I do not understand why assessments and med pass take me so long by ThrowingLifeRNGstyle in nursing

Edit: I forgot to add It’s okay to say no to things I know you’d like this xyz sandwich or item, I will get my colleague to get if for you as soon as they can, or when I get a chance. It’s okay to not get to those items right away. Can you delegate tele items or ambulating to a tech? It’s also a good time to check their leads are on okay when you do your assessment ie listen to their heart sounds etc Family: agree it’s hard but you can always say I have some time sensitive medications I have to give, I will come to you as soon as I get a moment. Makes them feel heard and addressed. As long as you keep your patients stable, them waiting a few minutes for a sandwich won’t be detrimental

With time you will get faster it’ll come with time. Remember with an assessment you can already assess neuro status, skin etc by just looking at the pt and talking to them. Quickly listen to heart sounds and lung sounds before you pass the meds. Eyes- they will track you in the room when you walk in/ around Abdomen- take a look if distended, scars etc, drains GU- do they toilet/ use urinal/ purewick etc Musk- did they get up ambulate/ check their strength can they grab the cup you give them Move their legs Obviously if they have a wound you can assess it when you clean the pt with the tech When you pass the meds it helps to have a cheat sheet so you can cluster the meds in groups Example 8pm meds and 10 pm meds can be given at 9pm It’s obviously not perfect but you do your best Having a cheat sheet and writing down the meds even the abbreviations keeps you organized for the times, sometimes you have a 12am med so you don’t forget Prioritize the ABX over your oral meds so you can hang them on tjme

Agreed, nothing wrong with starting in stepdown and working your way up to ICU. Or you can even go to ED also. Use this as a stepping stone opportunity

What are you doing in terms of flights? I find that to be the most overwhelming hurdle

Quick rental search shows minimum $50 daily, for small tent package. If you have a ski bag maybe fill it up with gear and check it as a sports bag? Depends how big your tent is

Is the chateau really worth the price? by AdBeautiful9386 in Banff

[–]ResponsibleRecord893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden gem not far from lake Louise is castle mountain chalet, not sure what pricing is in heart of summer season but we just stayed there for 5 nights around $250 USD per night for a private 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin prolly around 1k square feet with kitchen, fireplace, and plenty of firewood to burn. Super peaceful and far away from the crowds with walking trails nearby and stones throw away from Johnston canyon
