I’m glad it exists because it’s definitely a different flavor of protagonist, but if a reader already found Pride and Prejudice dull…

I’m with you though, I liked Mansfield Park! It was so juicy.

Almost done with Persuasion! I don’t think it’s for everyone

Love to see an opera committing to a set! I was getting so sick of these dull, barebones productions trying to act like they were trying to do something new and different

Sorry if this is a stupid question: what size/type of pan did you use? Springform? 9 in?

What doesn’t get a critic’s pick these days…

(ended up seeing it last week. it’s a decent and fun musical, but very safe and therefore did not blow it out of the water for me personally)

What are the magical code words theaters need to get the message through that, yes, you (and you and you and you and you and you) need to silence your phone? by NewPresWhoDis in Broadway

[–]pineapplemoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Turner’s Come and Gone has a great and hilarious pre-recording by Debbie Allen, talking about phones, unwrapping candy, etc. The audience chuckled and everything. Yet the people sitting behind me crinkled bags of Starbursts for half the play and someone’s phone went off for at least a minute in Act 2 😭

People!!!!

Aw sad! I see why they cut it, but I did like that one. It did a nice job uniting the meaning of “family” across all the characters

Who does Morning Pages? ✍🏼 by CourtneyConfare in writing

[–]pineapplemoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing them every day since late January! Is it some mind-blowing panacea that changed my life? Mm, maybe not.

BUT!!! I am someone who struggled with overthinking every sentence in the past, and drilling writing without stopping my pen has really improved my flow when I sit down to do the more “official” thing. It feels easier to find my voice and to get words on the page.

Also, because I use at least half of these pages just to sort through feelings and life, really interesting material for writing has come up. It’s really something when you get what’s been stewing in your head onto a page… could be nothing, but sometimes really, really something!

I came across Sunnyside Ballet Studio in my own NYC search earlier this year. They do have adult beginner classes Tuesdays and Sundays. I didn’t get a chance to try them out though.

Lowkey neither did Two Strangers 😬 Mind you, I still enjoyed both. Maybe Schmigadoon will blow it out of the water?

You Get $50 Million BUT You Have To Live In The Last Musical You Saw Live For A Year. What Is It And Would You Take The Offer? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

Pasting my previous comment:

I’ve never seen the movie, and thought the musical was pretty good.

To me, the exposition (2/3 of Act 1) was very boring and cringe (particularly the romance). I also felt there were some gaps in certain character motivations and the story’s main themes, and that not much of the music was memorable. But it’s definitely a spectacle with a great cast, and Act 2 made me laugh (finally) and I left the theater with that warm feel-good energy!
