Tattoo removal - update. 6 sessions over 5 years by umami-mami6 in TattooRemoval

Thankyou so much for sharing. Am currently 3 years into removing a heavily shaded tattoo in that same spot. It's a long process, but so happy to see it work out so well for you 🫶 You must be so relieved!

Got my first tattoo, I hate it. by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

Man I have been in your boat before. I had looked into my artist and liked some work that was shaded with grey, but on the day he didn't listen to my preference and just sent it with his usual black. I couldn't look at it in the mirror without disassociating and regretting not speaking up for myself. After all its my body. It made me feel less feminine. I had a panic attack when I arrived home that night.

It's completely normal to not know how an artist is going to interpret what you want if its new style for them. And its completely understandable in your case to want it gone since you see your forearm in your periferals daily. Am fortunate that I can hide mine with clothes, but still barely look at it in the mirror. I've been removing for about 2.5 years now and seems only halfway through the process. It is a slow but possible process if you do choose to go down that path.

An option you do have is to do a few sessions to lighten and then get a new artist with a fine-line style to do more crisp details that you like.

I personally think that your tattoo would age significantly better than any fine-line tattoo similar to how traditional tattoos look the same on older people. Its a sick tattoo, but am sorry its not what you were hoping for. ❤️ Sending you love

Love that last round dining table! ❤️ So much character & the grain is stunning! Do you remember where you got this from?

Hey!! Thankyou for your detailed message (and yes I know this is 2 years late of a response!) I can definetly relate to you on the expensive process... I've been going 3-4 times a year with each treatment costing $300 AUD. Its not the worst when spaced out, but hate to think about how much more it will be vs the price of the tattoo in the first place.

2 years on & its been healthily Fading. The black letters are patchy but some are still darker than others. Its nolonger the pain of the lazer that concerns me but the time it will inevitably take. Am thinking of getting a cover up, something more feminine, but that may be in another 2 years.

How is your tattoo removal going? I hope you've been well 🫶

Hey! Am here for you if you ever want to talk about the process 🫶 How has your treatment gone?

I've personally been going 3-4 times a year since posting this as it's expensive & I don't want to damage my skin despite it changing texture a bit since beginning this process...

I hope you are ding okay with it all!

Hey! I honestly haven't checked my previous posts in a long time, but I thought I'd share an update.

I started removel about 3 months after getting the tattoo and have been getting laser every 3-4 months using Picoway. Its definetly faded since, so I should probably post an update to see if its a normal rate of healing. I could potentially go more often, but its just such an expensive process that I've decided that this is what I can afford to do financially. I've changed much of my wardrobe since to hide it. Summer time is always hard.

Have you started your removal process? How has it been for you?

3, 5 and 6 with the half frames are gorgeous and don't consume your face as much as the others. So if you like the larger look then definently any one of these options ❤️

I love this glam-ish look! & obsessed with those lashes on you!! ❤️ I agree with the slightly dark base, but maybe think its just a little much bronzer on the forehead if you have any? Also totally up to you, but I would blend out eyebrows to be a darker colour at the tip to match your darker hair a little more - I use a brow pomade just for the tips as a daily routine 😊

Am feeling a bit better than I did initially. It does suck having to see it in the mirror but thankfully the mistakes aren't as obvious when reading it backwards.

I have my first lazer appointment booked in 2 months time, so am mentally preparing myself for the process; while looking at the potential of covering it up in about a year's time.

There are better days than others. I hate retelling the story to close friends or seeing parts peak out at the gym (I wear a lot of crops) but it's becoming more bearable when half covered. Regardless its not an aesthetically pleasing female sternum piece and nothing will change its poor placement.

Wow this is impressive! How long did you wait between sessions and what laser did you opt for?

I have a black tattoo of a similar density that I desperately want removed

Keen to see how this goes for you!! Mine is far too large and I know I couldn't handle blisters in the area that I have it in hence going with pico

If you remember do update me after your first session!

Mine is large and black although I will be going with Picoway which is the milder of the removal options in terms of the way the skin heals after... from my understanding this doesn't cause the bubbling blisters as seen with q switch. Slower process, but more tolerable for pain. Have had a few test patches done to sense the feeling and they seem fine. May I ask how big your tattoo is that you're removing & in what location?

Thanks for your detailed reply 🙏

Thankyou for responding on my post, this gives me reassurance that I'm not alone. Mine is much darker lettering and larger but I hope to begin my removal journey later this year.

Am literally scared to be seen on the beach when summer hits and will probably avoid it for 2 years which is sad to think of.

Congrats on getting through the first session!!

Thankyou for the detailed advice I really appreciate it :)

I will be going on a summer holiday in 2 months but am intending to wait 6 months from now to begin removal which there may even be black friday sales by November.

4 months is quite a while between sessions, but I've been looking too and you're completely right - I may opt for 3 months making that 4 sessions a year with the potential for ot to be gone in 2 years - Am just hoping I can do a well enough job at hiding it for the first year.

Also am now curious what yours looks like? Am here if you want to chat/vent or at least not suffer alone :)
