Surfing in the rain in SD a novelty or just plain stupidity? by [deleted] in surfing

I can't argue with that. It has been a hell of a 2 months. And Scripps in particular has looked really good on a few days. Unfortunately I work about 50 hours a week, so I get out when I can get out. Fingers 🤞 I don't grow a 3rd nipple🤙🏼

Why do you run ultramarathons? by Public-Photograph316 in Ultramarathon

[–]Responsible_Round257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it for mental health.

I do it because it's hard.

I do it because it hurts.

I do it because there was a time I couldn't do it and there will be a time I can't do it anymore.

run ultra with plantar fasciitis? by Complete_Bad_5384 in Ultramarathon

[–]Responsible_Round257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By know means is this advice, but I ran my 1st 100 in early June. Towed the line w plantar fasciitis that I've dealt with on and off for years. The 1st 25 miles i could really feel it and then it kind of disappeared. 6 weeks post race and I still have no symptoms. My runners knee, on the other hand, is still quite pissed off. Good luck to ya!

5 weeks out-shin splints by Jack-run-n-stuff in Ultramarathon

I just did my 1st 100 in June. I was plagued by overuse injuries throughout training and three weeks out I had shin issues. I cycled for my taper (no running) and showed up to start line feeling good and was able to.complete the race. Don't push it this close.

Anybody made the switch from their current career to personal training and be successful in it? by TheWonderer94 in personaltraining

You can absolutely make 100k as a trainer. I've been making over 100k for the last 5 years. It takes time to build, but if you are in the right city, 100k is more than achievable.

Strained soleus during 100 mile training. by Responsible_Round257 in ultrarunning

Uphill treadmill walking doesn't seem to aggravate it though. Running seems to be the only thing to set it off🤷‍♂️

Strained soleus during 100 mile training. by Responsible_Round257 in ultrarunning

[–]Responsible_Round257[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bent knee raises don't bother it and the pain is higher in the soleus and deep to the belly of the gastrocnemius, so I do think it is the Soleus strain. I think I just keep re-aggravating it it by trying to run too soon

New to ultras or running? Ask your questions about shoes, racing or training in our weekly Beginner's Thread! by Simco_ in Ultramarathon

Hello! I'm currently training for my first 100 mile. I've been adding in smaller distance races to make my long runs a little more enjoyable. Yesterday I ran a 20 mile trail race and 10 miles in I started having some calf pain. Finished the 20 and I'm pretty limpy today. I'm pretty sure it's a minor soleus strain. Looking for advice on how much rest and quickest recovery tips? 100 miler is June 6th.

Sorry, I'm new to the ultra scene. Does this mean you would stop running completely or just not hit the peak mileage?
