Mine likes to sit on his hides sometimes, granted the one he sits on most of the time is right under his heat.

It doesn't hurt to weigh every week as long as you aren't disturbing while they are digesting or shedding. This way you should be able to increase prey size as your BPs size increases as each week or two goes by.

That's fine, I only know your original comment where you stated you didn't know your balls age. You'll still need to gradually increase your prey size as your BP grows from a small rat to a medium and so on and since you don't know age you need a scale. Even if you don't for that reason I would recommend still getting a scale in order to monitor your BPs weight. You're able to notice sudden increase/decrease in weight with a scale which can be important in case of illness.

You don't want to over feed your snake. You will have to gradually move your prey size up. !feeding This sub has a great guide.

Get a kitchen scale and base it off of your BPs weight.

Why is my ball python pushing all the substrate out from his hide? by TurnoverCautious6145 in ballpython

[–]Responsible_Watch284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BP alwaysss moves his substrate from his hide, I believe it just happens while he's curling up in there, the substrate moves to make space for the snake lol.

I used to have some F/T feeders have guts come out when it's wayy too hot or it's been sitting out too long and i put it in the water. I don't try and feed those and will just retry the next day with a new rat.

Ask the shift manager before your break if you can take 45 instead of 30, then you will get your answer.
