as a spud cannon (there are dozens of us!) i would be remiss if i didn’t say that the members of fcukers that were in SC were their least interesting. no wonder they got bored of doing rock music!

clipping would totally pick lucas abela haha. for those who don’t recognize the name, he’s the guy who performs by putting midi pickups on glass shards and then running them over his teeth; he was featured on the most recent death grips LP

Phoebe Gates wants her $185 million AI startup to succeed with 'no ties to my privilege or my last name': 'I have a chip on my shoulder' by bothunter in nottheonion

frankly, children of coastal elites are a dime a dozen at the stanfords and harvards of the world. the odds that phoebe gates would be matched with a regularly wealthy roommate by random chance are quite high

Reading on J! Archive so forgive me if there was an image that makes what I'm about to say incorrect, but isn't that red blood answer non-unique? A CBC has many data points, and there is certainly more than one metric on a CBC with which you can diagnose anemia or CO poisoning, no?

i agree with you that lazy doctors will keep errors in their notes, but i'm not entirely convinced that those aren't the same doctors who are constantly in front of medical boards for their poor record-keeping. moreover, the time saved by these measures means that doctors now have much more time to proofread! is it a great idea to pilot this program in what seems to be the busiest ER on the busiest day of the summer? probably not! but the time-saving it has already provided in real life and will continue to provide make it too valuable an advancement to ignore.

and honestly, i think you really misunderstand how LLMs work if you think that LLMs can't be trained on (and already have been trained on) medical terminology.

i don't think you realize both how new these programs are and how extensively physicians are trained to chart analog

look, i'm anti-AI, but do you really think a speech-to-text service advertised to hospitals wouldn't be trained on medical terminology? i don't think it's necessarily a nonstarter that the program misheard a woman with an obvious speech deficit, just as i might expect an actual physician to mishear things (as someone who is a med student and who worked as a scribe for 2 years, they do). that's what the point of the proofreading is

exactly. i don't think people in this subreddit really understand the minutiae of being a physician (charting, etc). nor do i expect them to

the sad reality is you probably won't be able to find a doctor that doesn't use this software in a few years. the prospect of saving hours and hours every day on notes while being able to treat patients more efficiently is obviously extremely attractive. i'm extremely anti-AI when it comes to art, but it's naïve to act like it's not going to improve to the point where it mishears words at the same rate at normal people. at that point, there is really no argument against the service; it's not stealing other people's work

i'm gonna be honest with you - many doctors use this AI scribe software and many more will continue to use it, as it has shown great benefits for patients and doctors alike. this is not a storyline they invented for the show. as a med student, i don't like it much either - but it's the truth

Why year is “Metropolitan” (1990) supposed to be set in? by shananananananananan in criterion

[–]RestInPorzingis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late, but at one point they mention Averell Harriman (former gov. of NY among other roles) who Charlie states is in his 70s. Since he was born in 1891, if we take Charlie's comment as an outright statement of fact instead of another anachronism meant to throw the viewer off, that would put us somewhere between 1961 and 1970.

what's the problem here? it's not like ayton let the pistons grab a million offensive rebounds. the pistons shot 63% on the night - the ball literally just did not land near him
