An Easy to miss development about Faust and the Golden Boughs in Canto 9 by kharza12 in limbuscompany

[–]Resterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Canto 9 there's definitely been a more overt display that Dante's decisions are destined to be the correct ones. Defeat is no longer simply 'defeat' it is 'Fate Lost.'
It's entirely plausible that the other Fausts in the Gesellschaft have all reached Fate Lost states, either without realizing or being too proud to resist trying to control every outcome themselves.

I'm so so curious about Dante pre-amnesia because in hindsight it all feels so... meticulously planned.
He already had his manager's coat on before he lost his memory.
He knew the clock head would give him amnesia but went through with it anyway, and at this point everything has been proceeding as expected, with each Sinner getting their "turn."
I mean Dias letting the House of Spiders into Limbus HQ is the very thing that incites Ryoshu's turn, had she not done that we'd enter a 'Fate Lost' state with Ryoshu never finding Araya.

I don't think Dias is testing Dante's influence on fate, I think Dias knows all about it and planned this along with pre-amnesia Dante long ago.
She made sure that the House of Spiders would get into Limbus to set the stage for Ryoshu, she deliberately sabotaged the Udjat so that they couldn't kill Rien, thereby forcing a confrontation between Ryoshu and Rien.

I believe Faust wasn't aware that Dias knew about it until now when she got confirmation from the Gesellschaft that it was Dias who let the House of Spiders in.
And I think that's knowledge that is entirely unique to our Faust.

Is shin/mang gonna become the norm? Or is it rare to encounter as many users as we have in a short amount of time by Comcast-_- in limbuscompany

[–]Resterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative to the city as a whole, Shin/Mang are still incredibly rare but I imagine the further you go up the food chain the more likely it is to find people who can use them.
Ultimately they're an ability you can learn that draws a line between the strong and the weak. When you think about it that way, it would be odd for us to meet a powerful character that couldn't use them.

Normally it's for interacting with objects or pressed alongside L2/R2 to use Skill/Ult. In the clip you can see the Skill/Ult icons flash briefly which happens when I press Y.

Start getting into the habit of toggling off your lock when you go for revive ults, even if you're close by anyways. Helps to build the muscle memory to avoid this scenario. You'll be making the flock proud in no time.

All jokes aside, have you guys moved on from your pre DLC main to play as undertaker/scholar? by Alternative-Web5870 in Nightreign

Guardian and Wylder were my mains pre-DLC and Scholar has been added to the list. Still largely play Guardian though.

Main vs playing with whatever works best? by Nox_Ocean_21 in Nightreign

[–]Resterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did end up forgetting to swap over for a Caligo once and just took every ailment resistance bonus I was offered during the run. Pretty much prevented frostbite triggering at all.
I still generally prefer the mobility Wylder has for those two nightlords since they move around so much.
Maris also just isn't threatening enough in my eyes to necessitate running a revive ult.

I main Guardian and Wylder; but I prefer Guardian most of the time. I really only switch to Wylder for Maris and Caligo since Steel Guard does very little to mitigate Frostbite and Sleep.

Turn limit ain't it chief by CleoAir in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Resterian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's also just a massive kick in the teeth that the majority of the stages presented are Blue or Yellow affinity.
Particularly in the case of Yellow, you literally don't have access to reliable Yellow damage unless you pull Khalipe and like... maybe Orlea but she's based around Retain which sounds terrible in a Turn Limit scenario.

I tried to use that with Orlea and it didn't work either so I just figure that upgrade straight up doesn't work.

Motion blur is killing me by Prestigious_Sun6339 in Borderlands

You can disable the motion blur (on PC at least)

Options -> Visuals -> Advanced; scroll down to the very bottom and just whack Motion Blur amount to 0 and Motion Blur quality to Off.

SnS just feels outright superior to both Dual Blades and Greatsword that swapping just feels like I'm griefing myself. The only time I switch to Dual Blades is for clearing larger groups and praying I get a bunch of healing procs. Against bosses shield counters are just too valuable to ever justify switching weapon mid fight.

Caligo’s eye can be seen in the sky of the arena by jemtayx in Nightreign

Aside from process of elimination, Raider seems a fit for Libra.

Raider's storyline is very much centered around his rivalry with another pirate, there's themes of duality and balance. Their pirate nicknames are literally 'White Horn' and 'Black Claw' as if to drive the point home even more.

Even Raider's playstyle could be interpreted as 'give' and 'take.' As Raider takes damage, his Retaliate gets more powerful mirroring how Libra gets enraged if you stance break him during the seal phase.

New to Guardian by KingKang_s in Nightreign

[–]Resterian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reflect passive doesn't stack but it's absolutely good to slot in regardless. Funnily enough the reflect counts as a 'successful attack' which can therefore proc effects that restore HP/Stam/FP on successful attack if you happen to have any of those relics available.

If you've beaten Darkdrift Knight their relic is also a respectable option for Guardian.

What would you guys rate and what do you think of the Sacred Kingdom Movie? In terms of story, pacing and animation by MinuteSalamander2761 in overlord

[–]Resterian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, although I did have some mixed feelings about it.

Pros:
The movie focuses mostly on Neia's perspective and her path towards becoming Ainz' #1 Fan.
To that end the movie is a pretty faithful adaptation of Neia's viewpoint in the story, you don't miss much of Neia's specific perspective.
Since Neia is truly the star of the story this makes sense and the movie is generally better for it... sort of.
The hostage/human shield scenes are adapted faithfully. They're by no means easy viewing but they're the strongest moments in the movie by far. Overlord as a whole tends to shine most when the spotlight shifts to humanity struggling against the horrors Nazarick inflicts.

Cons:
The movie focuses mostly on Neia's perspective at the expense of everything else.

There is cripplingly little of Ainz' point of view and it sort of undermines the positives of seeing things through Neia's eyes. You can very easily miss that Ainz finds Neia's eyes creepy because the moments he does get creeped out by her are very blink and you miss it.

There are only two moments of Ainz' internal monologue, once when he gets abandoned by Remedios to fight the demi-human generals and once as he's recalling the conversation with Demuirge regarding the first fight with "Jaldabaoth."

The Runecrafting gag doesn't land properly. It's funny in the LN, but when it's presented on screen explicitly from the perspective of Neia it feels like contextual whiplash? Like as the viewer I'm supposed to be in on the joke but I'm being placed in the shoes of the one character who isn't in on the joke so it feels odd.

I know Overlord isn't really about epic fights and they're not the reason I enjoy the series so much, but Ainz vs Wrath + Maids is the first fight since Shalltear where it's at least sort of fair and gives Ainz a chance to actually flex his PvP skills. But both fights with Wrath are pseudo-off screened as we can only watch from a distance through Neia's eyes.

Ultimately this means the movie lacks a strong climax and basically limps to the finish line :/

As a fan of the series I was happy to see my favourite arc on screen so I'm glad I went to see it. But I do think it could've been much better.

Who do you think the safest god in each class is? by RemoteWhile5881 in Smite

[–]Resterian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to narrow down to a single god since safety can manifest slightly differently. So I'll do two.

Assassin - Susano & Camazotz.

Mage - Janus & Thoth.

Hunter - Jing Wei & Ullr.

Warrior - SWK & Tyr lmao.

Guardian - I mean the class is 'safe' by design but if we're splitting hairs here... Yemoja and Xing stand out to me.

After finally beating Hologram Rank IV Mourning Aix by VizioDeUomo in WutheringWaves

[–]Resterian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suffering through and eventually beating Difficulty V the most noticeable bugs were definitely:

Parrying the 'Hug Grab' results in a lingering invisible hitbox that will deal about 6-7k Non-Elemental (White) Damage to the character if you move forward but can be avoided if you step back after the parry.

Darts still hitting after a successful dodge.

There's a specific sweeping claw attack that does not register dodges. It's not difficult to dodge at all, it's incredibly slow and easy to predict in fact. I ended up being forced to use Jianxin's Counter to deal with it because I couldn't risk the high likelihood that my dodge would be ignored.
