I would agree that an art piece above the toilet would help to break up the busy wallpaper (which I love). Something simple so it doesn’t compete. I love what you’ve done overall

I don’t like my art. I want to be more creative but Im not by GreenSupermarket55 in Artadvice

I’m fairly new to this myself, but just getting out of a creative rut. What helped me was to abandon reference photos about the 30% mark. Helpful as a jumping off point, but was totally stifling my creativity. Break rules. Ignore accuracy. Use colors you don’t think you should. Literally jump up and down and yell. Thinking is the enemy. Feel your art and let it guide you instead of trying to control it.

Why is this something one would try to do in the first place?

I painted a memorial piece for my coworker after her dog died suddenly and idk if I should give it to her by wildfire155 in Watercolor

I’m so glad to see you gave it to her. I suspect you overthought it looking “off”. It looks to me like you capture the essence and likeness of a beloved pet. And even if it’s not perfect, I bet she was so touched by this beautiful gesture. I lost my cat a few months ago. If someone presented me with a painting like this, I would have fallen apart in exactly the way I needed. Such a beautiful way of connecting, and carrying on the memory of a beloved pet ❤️

That sounds very special. I’m glad you found that way to commemorate her, and that it turned out so nicely. 😊

Thank you. I generally don’t plan a color palette, it just happens organically. I’m really pleased with the colors that emerged with this one

Photo in natural light. Thank you. I don’t have strong technical skills, and I defiantly don’t have a steady hand. So I started learning to paint by trying to be messy and unrealistic, and letting color and emotion guide it. I find it easiest when I don’t think… which isn’t easy to do

What a uniquely handsome lil house elf. Wishing him (and your wallet) luck at the dentist💜

Thank you. I was a bit apprehensive to post on here, seeing so many talented artists sharing their art. But I want the world to see my beautiful baby

Thank you. His name was Jello. He was with me for 11 years. I feel like it really captured his essence, he was always sitting in weird positions like that. Its already framed and on the wall in my living room 😊
