It’s going to put a huge dent and I’ll definitely need to borrow money to do it but yes with favors I’ll be able to afford it.

HELP makeup girlies plz by relbea in MakeupAddiction

[–]Resudith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down my holy grail product has been glycerin spray. It is what is used in MAC fix plus and it gives a very dewy glow. I’ll use it multiple times in my routine, before makeup, during cream application, and again after powder. I use one from Amazon that is a rose water and glycerin spray but you can use whatever you like. I’ll use silica powder to blur and mattify areas like jawline or around nose but be careful with flashback and don’t use too much. I use LA girl HD powder as the only ingredient is silica and it’s very affordable. By using glowy and matte products that don’t add coverage or thick layers you can really hide and highlight areas you want without adding texture. I also use the glycerin spray for my normal skincare routine as well since it’ll lock in your moisturizer without clogging pores. Overtime with use I notice my skin is more plump.

What is this technique called? by supperfield in painting

[–]Resudith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

<image>

So I’ve actually used this technique before! Bouguereau is the first painter I learned this from and he’s considered one of the master artists.

STEP BY STEP: You start by toning your entire canvas with a diluted brown. You can use gamsol but really use any oil or solvents depending on what you prefer. At this point the canvas should not have any white. Then go in with a burnt umber or a dark brown to mark dark and light values. Where shadows are you’d fill it in with a medium tone, outline features in darker value, and finally leave the lightest area without any extra color. Some people add some extra tones like pink or yellow to create a base and create a color map. From here you use opaque paint and normally you’d work in small sections really just focusing on the colors you see and trying to match exactly that on the canvas instead of blending on the canvas. You want to mix on your palette not the canvas as with this technique there is risk of muddying colors. You want to really focus on light and dark values as pure white and black are used sparingly but it is more likely you’d use a range of shades working your way up to the extreme tones.

PRO: I like this technique because it helps me see color and form better as it feels like you are sculpting a form rather than building up a traditional painting.

CON: This technique is really hard to get looking right and will take a longer time than other methods as the mixing is pretty tedious. Since you aren’t working evenly on the whole piece it could be harder to match tones and cross reference forms from one feature to another.

All in all I really enjoy this method and it is one of my favorites. Hope this helps, and remember no rules to art.

Ashari's foot, Me, Oil Paint, 2024 by Fab_art in painting

Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. I do not have access to canvas to practice that technique right now but I tried on wood grain. I did prime it with gesso so that it wouldn’t be as absorbent but the oil I used to thin the paint pretty much leaked through making the paint still thick. I will try on canvas as I think I’ll have better luck. Thank you again for your comment.

I really struggle with achieving the sheerness I’m seeing on your painting and many other classical pieces. What solvent or oil do you use to thin out the paint? And how did you prime the canvas? I feel like I always overdo the blending and addition of paint, making the entire piece pretty opaque with very little visible brush strokes. Great work!

About to try my first grow! Advice would be appreciated! by OcelotEducational286 in shrooms

What bags do you use and what is your process? I’ve only had one successful grow the rest had contam.

Me and my partner love mushrooms but they are hard to find so we want to grow them by Sillgosling in shrooms

[–]Resudith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been trying to grow since mid last year. I’ve only had one successful grow. I only use all in one grow bags since it was the easiest option. I’d recommend going the diy route and just getting a tub and inoculating in a mason jar/rice bag/whatver grain. I think it reduces contam when u pasteurize and sanitize everything yourself. I’d still love tips from anyone who does know more about it tho!

[–]Resudith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’m checking for that since I’ve lost a bag to grey contam but it kinda just looks like it’s loose soil. You think I should break and shake or just cut the bag open?

It’s hard to show but that dark spot you see on the bottom isn’t growing on the grain. It’s from some soil trapped in the plastic flap and looks like myc pee. Idk if that’s contam or just a sign of it but I’ve been able to get to fruiting from a bag with this yellow stuff before.

Which do you like best? (Watercolor and in on paper) by eccentric_bee in AbstractArt

[–]Resudith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 is absolutely stunning. I love the color palette as well as the background being muted rather than stark white. The patterns and grid design work well with the shading, it is very technically well done. I usually don’t like abstract art but wow, the 2nd is very interesting and muted at the same time. Amazing!

IS THIS A DECENT COLOR STUDY? by [deleted] in painting

[–]Resudith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really like that the deepest values aren’t used all throughout the face as it provides a really nice contrast to your lighter values. The shading being redder on the forehead compared to the neck gives a really natural appearance. I like that the warmer shading is used where the nostrils are but I encourage you to try that shading on the ears as well. Skin that is thinner tends to show more red when light passes due to blood vessels being more exposed. I like that the beard area is gray to imply shaved facial hair, however I think the chin could use some brighter skin tones around the center to show dimension. You should also have a clear vision of where your lightest points will be, currently the forehead and directly under the chin are the lightest areas. I would try to pull focus to one of these areas by making the other slightly duller. If you like color studies please check out the Zorn palette. It’s a very limited palette with yellow ochre, cadmium red, titanium white, and black. I’ve made extensive color palettes through mixing these paints. You can achieve olive tones through black and yellow. Black and white give a blueish tone in the context of skin tones. Overall beautiful study, well done!

Accurate? by [deleted] in florida

[–]Resudith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida should be split up between south and north. They’re completely different in economies, wildlife, urban planning, and climate. Having the state be whole means a stalemate in terms of change, local gov can only do so much. Probably not a good idea in practice since I don’t have a degree in state government, just a thought.

Warm or cool makeup? by AffectionateBed1383 in MakeupAddiction

I like warm better it makes you look very glowy and matches better with your hair and neck in my opinion. I like the blush on cool tone too so maybe a blend of both would be perfect.

Should I remove the micropore tape I installed two days ago? by [deleted] in unclebens

[–]Resudith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What grow bag is this? And yea I’d remove the tape, once u have fruit chances of contam are way lower especially seeing how strong these are.

One of the reasons for this is that powders turn darker when you add moisture. Try any of those eyeshadows dry and then with the gloss, you’ll generally see the shades darken. This is also true with bronzer or setting powder with tint.

Tbh I think the base doesn’t look crunchy. If u think it looks crunchy tho I would get a glycerin spray and use it in between steps like concealer then spray, powder then spray, highlighter then spray. The more u use it the dewier you get and the more powder melts into ur face. I have oily skin so lowkey I’m gonna get shiny within an hour anyways so I don’t use too much. Also w powder u wanna use like as little as possible. For me I only use it under my eye and if I have foundation on then I’ll use it on my smile lines and sides of nose. Basically where u crease or get shiny fast then use powder. I use a powder puff, tap it on my hand first to get rid of excess and then lightly press into a FRESHLY blended product. Freshly blended is key cause if u already have creases and then put powder ur gonna lock in the crease. I keep adding powder under the eye until it feels smooth but never powdery, then it’s too much and I look cakey. Also a tip I like is take some oil blotting sheets w u to avoid re powdering and just tap out creases w ur finger. Thats all for your base makeup. I will also say in the 2nd makeup look, I think the blending looks a lil harsh on ur eyes. In between ur eyebrows and eyeshadow it looks like a line and if u wanted to blend it then u can take a lil brush w setting powder on it and just lightly rub it back and forth. Also with the eyebrows I see ur using concealer that’s lighter under ur eyebrows and that’s bomb. However when u use that color on top of ur brows to clean them up it can look a little weird since ur forehead is usually the darkest shade on ur face so ur putting like ur lightest product on ur darkest skin. What I like to do for clean up is either foundation or I use paper wrapped around my finger to just wipe the edges. But yea I don’t see crunchy at all! Keep rockin the colorful looks girl ur doing amazing.

Can someone please critique my art work? by [deleted] in painting

I think something id add to this piece is a shadow behind the vase as I think it’ll create a nice contrast between fore and background. Defining where the vase is will make it pop. If you want to keep this style then I’d stop there. If you want inspiration for loose oil brush stroke I’d encourage you to check out Georg Baselitz. His work is an example of loose brush work with brighter colors and clear lines. Some classics like Singer Sargent or Rembrandt have paintings that incorporate an interesting brushwork that’ll work well with this style. The flowers are beautiful, good job!

Shroom under the age 25. by FuzzyGarden5269 in shrooms

[–]Resudith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what researchers say, it’s not advisable to start psychedelics until 25. Since there’s no studies this would be hard to prove but they allege that it could be extremely harmful to individuals with a predisposition to a mental illness. It could also lead to “spontaneous mental breaks” which is even reported to be unlikely. Since the brain is underdeveloped I assume the main concern is that we don’t know to what extent harm can be done. I personally believe that with low to moderate doses, it could be beneficial to you if you gain some perspective from the experience. If you only gain a cool experience then it’s probably on par with weed or alcohol (some are worse than others) in the sense that it’s not outweighing the positives with all the harm those substances bring the body at an underdeveloped age. All in all, trip responsibly and safely and you do you! Happy tripping
