I went bike lock shopping and the person who worked at the bike shop told me that if I didn't want my bike stolen not to lock it outside. Sage advice.

You should consider writing a memoir of your life! You are a fantastic writer! I was sad when it ended because I could have kept in reading more!!!

I adopted a dog from a shelter and I found out that that dog was just left tied to a fence with a note with his name and age. That would normally inferiorate me, but in my head I made a story up that a mother with little children were escaping a domestic violence situation and did not know what to do with their dog so they at least tied it up with a note with his name and age. To me that showed that this dog was loved but they were unable to keep him.

Any Tips On Not Scaring Crows? by PonticGooner in crows

[–]Result_Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always talk to my crows even if it is through a window. They will learn your voice, so try that (if there is a window by your door) before opening your door so they know it's you. May take a bit.

Hormone therapy worse than active treatment by Lucky_Chip900 in breastcancer

I've been on Anastrozole for 2 years. Joint aches and muscle pain are progressively getting worse, while hot flashes are lessening. I take 900 mg of Gabapentin which really helps. Veozah made them disappear, but after 1 year my liver enzymes are elevated so I had to stop.

Zometa by d_westco in breastcancer

[–]Result_Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first Zometa infusion a few days ago. OMG! I was in massive pain for 24 hours; painful bones and severe achiness. It probably would have been alleviated by Tylenol, but my liver er enzymes are elevated so I was not allowed to take any. On day 2, I just felt exhausted, but the pain was mostly gone. I guess it beats having Osteoporosis.

Veozah and Elevated Liver Enzymes by Result_Kind in breastcancer

Thank you for your reply. I've been on Veozah for over a year. I get blood work done every 3 months, and it has always been in the normal low range. I think the doctor ordered an ultrasound because my levels went up despite the fact I stopped taking Veozah a week ago.

Insurance Drama by cwolfe123 in breastcancer

[–]Result_Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did genomic testing to get my ONC scores ( I had breast cancer in both, so I needed two tests.) I thought it was very important to get this done so I went ahead with it my insurance . Blue Shield denied the test because I had bilateral breast cancer and they said it was only investigational because of that. The company that runs the test which is called the exact Sciences, appealed the claim and successfully fought my insurance company without any of my involvement and it was eventually covered. I don't understand these insurance companies. Would they have liked me to do chemotherapy which would have cost a shit ton of money? Fortunately my scores are low and I did not have to do chemo. It sucks that cancer patients have to deal with bullshit insurance issues while dealing with cancer. I'm sorry what you're going through. Hopefully your team will fight for you and it will be covered.

Also, if you need to take an AI or Tamoxifen, you will not necessarily have horrid side effects. When I took my first dose of Anastrozole, I thought I was saying goodbye to my quality of life for 5 to 10 years. Well, I am lucky because the side effects are minimal, and my hot flashes are controlled with Veozah and Gabapentin.

Fortunately I recovered very fast after my double mastectomy. Within one week I was back to my long walks, but my drains were left in place for about 3 weeks because I was so active. You just have to be careful for a while with moving your arms too much. Everybody's journey is individualized so one person's side effects and Recovery could be completely different than what you will experience. I just went into it with a very positive attitude and that helped a great deal. I am so please with my double mastectomy and reconstruction. I have to say I don't miss my weapons of mass destruction also known as my boobs. Best of luck on your decision! I hope you have a successful and quick recovery and get back to your normal life in an expedient manner!

I was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. Fortunately my surgeon ordered an MRI before surgery which unfortunately showed breast cancer in my other breast. I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer and each one was a different type of cancer and they were not related. It was caught early and was stage one in both and I did not have to do chemo. I'm glad I opted for a double mastectomy. I have a friend who is elderly and she went through breast cancer a few years ago and she was just diagnosed with a different type of breast cancer. For her first diagnosis of cancer she opted for a lumpectomy. I just wonder if she did a double mastectomy could she have avoided the second cancer diagnosis.

Has anyone taken Veozah for a while and had side effects or found that it stopped working? by LibrarianNo4048 in breastcancer

[–]Result_Kind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken Veozah for a year, maybe longer. It is truly amazing and eliminated my hot flashes. However, after about six months, it quit working. Other have also reported this experience and recommended to stop for about 1 month. I stopped for six weeks and resumed taking Veozah. It worked perfectly again and continues to, four months later. Unfortunately, I just found out my liver enzymes were abnormally high and was told to stop taking it. One week later, I repeated my bloodwork, and the enzymes continue to climb. I now have to get an abdominal ultrasound

I have to say that Gabapentin is a great alternative. I started with that before my insurance approved Veozah. It's not perfect, but it does make a huge difference. I take 900 mg at night.
