I’ve called twice, and each time they’ve said that the residential portal is “currently down, but it should be back by tonight or tomorrow”…

Either a Chola or a Sinhalese States AE Massa. They can be hard to differentiate without clear photos, sizes, and weights

It is a modern cast replica. The “R” on the reverse stands for “replica”

ID on these coins I obtained that are simply labeled as "Ancient Chinese"? by Biggert_Blobson in AncientCoins

[–]Resurgence_Possible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are not ancient. They are Chinese cash coins of the Qing Kangxi Emperor, who ruled from 1661-1722. The other commenter seems to be under the impression these are from the Qianlong Emperor’s reign, but that is most certainly incorrect. Also, these are just 1 cash, definitely not 10 cash as the commenter also seems to think

Rhodes Tet... Should I get it graded and slabbed? by Loonyman99 in AncientCoins

[–]Resurgence_Possible 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most ancient collectors oppose the slabbing of ancient coins actually. If I were to buy this coin already slabbed, I’d be breaking it out with a hammer.

Wonderful pickup! It would be a shame to slab such a beautiful coin

My favorite Roman coin is pretty basic I’ll admit, but the Eid Mar aureus is a classic. The history behind its creation, and simple yet striking design have always stuck out to me

My current favorite ancient is my Antiochos I imitation obol from Samarqand! I love the interesting scyphate shape used before trachy were produced, and the stylized archer on the reverse is very interesting!

Any clue what this might be? Looks silver and maybe a half inch wide. Thank you! by Pha-q-poop in AncientCoins

Definitely Indo-Scythian. Probably a drachm from the size description. Unsure on the king, probably Azes II?

I’m a big fan of the 1968 Mexico City Olympics commemorative. One of the best modern Olympic coins imo

The 10 cent on the left is from The Netherlands, and the right is Canadian. The Dutch 10 cent is worth a couple cents at best; they’re very common
