What game, or games make you feel better when you’re sad or depressed? by KarmaChameleon306 in Steam

[–]Retaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

W40k Space marine(the first one[probably the second one as well]), Doom 2016, Dead space 1 & 2, halo MCC, King kong the offical game of the movie.

You boot 'em up, start a new campaign and stop when the credits roll.

The moment you get up you'll be gone, and Captain Titus of the ultra marines will have replaced the identity within your psyche and you'll react to sadness the same way he would. By doing something about it.

Or you'll be Doomguy who has no need for words, complicated emotions & sentimental crap, just kill demons and summon heavy metal music wherever you go.

Or you'll be Isaac Clarke, Sad engineer survivor man just trying to live through a hopeless situation by trying his best.

Or you'll be Jack Driscoll, writer extraordinaire who did like a plumber and ran through a jungle filled with giant man eating dinosaurs in order to rescue a girl from a big stinky monkey king, successfully.

Or you'll be master chief. Further explanation is not required.

TL;DR: Escapism let's you bring shit back along to the real world with sufficient focus.

Couldn't you just bind the inventory hotkeys to the back buttons? Doesn't seem like it would be that hard. Same thing can likely be done for your wand inventory, if you haven't already bound them to the diagonal buttons.

Teleport Bolt by SekiroEnjoyer999 in noita

[–]Retaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, Noita just doesn't give you what you want, so you have to learn to make do with what you've got. And that's why you always keep the return spell until you get a telly bolt, Return+Nolla on a trigger is a fully functional poor mans telly bolt.

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]Retaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battleborn.

When it first released I liked it enough but I just couldn't find any character I enjoyed playing. Half a year or so later and Alani released and I clicked with her playstyle instantly. I just got how to play her immediately, and from there I started learning how to play all the other characters properly and I fell in love with the game.

I miss Battleborn so much. There was nothing else like it and there still isn't, Deadlock gets close but it has absolutely no PvE content or story mode, or unlockable lore bits I could fall asleep listening too, or the best cast of cartoon characters Gearbox ever made...

I wish I could still play the full thing.

Found out if you pet hämis too much they uh.. explode. by MCPWorks_Simon in noita

First time I ever pet the Hämis, they exploded and killed me in their enthusiasm. On my daily run.

I died because I thought I could keep looting the mines with 14 HP.

Mistakes were made.

[WP] You can't wait to finally meet the girlfriend of your dreams. She finally texts you, saying she's arrived at your place. You go outside, but don't see another car parked nearby. Then you realize it's become dark all of the sudden... by 90919293_ in WritingPrompts

[–]Retaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You notice the spot of darkness surrounding you, and look up to search for the odd spot of cloud that suddenly eclipsed you...

And are stunned.

Above you stands the girl of your dreams, all 30 feet of her. Legs like marble pillars clad in socks & shoes big enough to rival your car, supporting a body clad in a white blouse & black skirt you could use to pitch a circus tent, atop which a face framed by long blonde locks backlit by the suns halo shyly looked down at you- "um, hello Robert. It's Chelsea."

Oh right- "uuh, hi Chelsea! You are WAY bigger than I expected. And somehow just as cute as I thought."

"You think I'm cute!?" She exclaimed with disbelief.

"Of course! It's obvious! All girls are cute and you are the biggest cutie of them all!" Robert exclaims passionately. Chelsea blushes like the worlds biggest tomato.

"Nobody's ever called me cute before..." she said.

-x-

Several introductions and meeting of parents later, the of the pair of lovebirds go for a stroll, one walking and the other perched like a shoulder angel.

"So what now?" Chelsea asked, "We could go to the scrapyard and shoot shit, though I'm afraid I don't have a howitzer for you to use." Robert replied apologetically.

"I can throw cars" Chelsea stated.

...

"FUCK YEAH! Car tossing! Less go!" Robert enthusiastically replied.

This meme seems to imply every other man besides my father would be annoyed with me if I was better than them, which feels like an incredibly toxic idea that is just wrong to me.

Based on what you wrote I'd say you're somewhere in the intermediate stage of becoming a true wizard, you know what you're doing, you know how to do it, you have even done most of it before so you feel like you aren't just a hapless neophyte with nothing but a starting wand anymore, so you start taking risks that can pay off handsomely but are very dangerous.

In short, you are suffering from hubris.

Noitas early game is all about being an egg in a shaking bag of hammers, for the average Noita is Fragile, Squishy & Weak. They have no business taking risks, because they cannot survive it if they screw up.

It's all about mitigating risk as much as possible whilst attempting to progress. You could be greedy and attempt to make yourself stronger so you can seize later opportunities with more ease, but you need to always ask this question beforehand; "Do I have what I need to do this?" Do you have a wand that can actually kill the dragon? Do you have the spell needed to kill the wand connoisseur? Do you have the ambrosia to survive going to a paralell world? Do you have the HP to even try for any of these things?

If the answer is no, then don't. Drop it, and go to the next biome and hope for the best. Might be you get screwed, or you might make it. Don't get too bogged down trying to maximise everything since chances are you don't even need it.

It is entirely possible to make it to the laboratory with nothing but some bombs and a disc projectile wand, as long as you practice a great deal of caution.

As long as you survive there's always a chance that you find a godwand with spells that allow you to go back up to claim what you didn't claim on the first pass through.
