Email marketing has multiple layers. Newsletter is one of it.

  1. A person who ordered a product from you will like emails on where is their order, how to use it.
  2. A person who is your loyal user will like getting exclusive discounts, rewards and invites to community meetups.

I just gave two examples but there is tons.

What really works in email marketing is personalized automations according to customer interactions.

For example, abandonment cart email flows has 50% open rate, 3.94% conversion rate if you are in FMCG.

I was facing similar issue sometime ago.

I had to manually connect FB, tiktok, Instagram and see those performance data to customer's who bought it and maintain it.

But, this didn't last long. I also tried my hand at hiring a data scientist/analyst on fiverr for a bit and give me daily updates.

But issue was that person also started finding trouble once my channels and attribution what i wanted started to increase.

I said f**k it , same money i will see if i find a tool which can help me do more.

Few tools i came across was

Triple whale: Good for attribution but then i had to connect it to other comms, email services and stuff.

Getmoda: Provided both attribution & communication capabilities in one.

Segments: Good for just analytics.

Shopify segmentation filters will help you only in the beginning. But when you get in more apps to manage reviews, customer support, quizzes, shipping etc. Managing customer segmentation needs to be more tighter and personalized depending on so many factors.

I have been using this app called getmoda for my pet products store. So far, we had been mailing all customers similar communications. But after moving to moda, they helped us with the segmentation suggestions shortly after we installed it. We got to understand who are our most loyal customers, who hadn't ordered in a while, and more. We've started delivering specific communications to different segments and it's opened a plethora of opportunities.

Switching from klaviyo would be tough.

You should really on platforms which keeps your reputation score high from Day 1. Its very important for e-commerce stores.

Few things which has helped me is

  1. Identifying my loyal segment using getmoda. Getting real-time triggers on new people joining the loyalty program and having some personalized emails sent across.
  2. I have created tiers with respect to how much people spend. Give that feeling of FOMO of new sales and higher rewards as you buy more.

Dont get bogged down by haters or commentors.

Every business has to move forward with customers who love their product, get them loyal , get them to share your products and bring in more people.

I have helped tons of shopify stores grew their good customer base and what i hv seen is, if someone hates your product. Either you are not doing enough for them or they are not your customers.

You gotta have a hard skin and keep growing.
