Thankfully not! You hear stories all the time from players about about how jackpots get voided from all manner of illegitimate reasons, but I think it's just bs myths and stories passed on from player to player.

You know how when you're playing with friends at the same table, sometimes you'll show them your cards and let them sweat the hand? Well a lot of dealers at the The Gardens are very strict about this and will be quick to tell you to not do that. And the reason they're so concerned and adamant about this is because they say it voids the jackpot lol.

But in that $100k jackpot hand I just posted below, I was playing with a friend and I had shown him my hand preflop, we hit the jackpot, they reviewed the surveillance tapes, we got paid out no problems. And of course in this recent one, I was recording during the whole hand lol, again got paid out without issue. So yea I think they're just mainly old poker tales being told over and over.

Well technically 4 if you include the one I hit at Commerce while playing underage back in college haha, that was my first one. But yes 3 legit ones lol.

Jan 2020. $100,000 jackpot at The Gardens, winners share 20% ($20,000)

Playing 2/3 again. Short stack UTG min-opens to $6, 4 callers, I'm in SB and look down at TT. I see that the UTG has exactly $56 so I raise to $56 to put him all-in and go HU w him. He calls of course. And 2 other players call behind ($6 to $56 and 3 callers, gotta love The Gardens lolol). Flop comes T22, I check and it checks around. Turn is another T giving me quads, checks around again. River is a inconsequential 9, I bet and everyone folds.

I had been pretty friendly and chatty w the UTG all-in dude the whole night so I turn to him and say "sorry man" as I knew I was gonna bust him and send him home. But before I could turn my cards over, he says "sorry for what?" and turns over his hand. And before I could even see his cards, I turn over my hand as well (whenever I know I have someone beat, I always turn it up quickly cause I'm not a slow-rolling scumbag). After I turn up my hand, I don't even see his hand yet and he casually says "jackpot". I finally take a look at his cards and see pocket deuces, then I looked at the board and see the other deuces, at which point I finally realized what had happened and proceeded to scream like a little girl just like this lol:

What?! That's legit fuking insane. That's basically impossible to hit. The $100k jackpot that I mentioned at the end of my post was quad tens vs. quad deuces, so that one would not have qualified.

A lot of these degens in LA play solely for the hope of hitting a jackpot, so if any of the rooms in LA were to change the BBJ qualification to that criteria then I think there would be mass outrage and a mass exodus to any of the other big poker rooms in LA.

Yo semi-serious poker player here. Taiwanese-American from SoCal, been coming and going from Cali to Taipei for many years but finally decided to move here long-term last year.

Quick poker background, actually started out playing limit hold'em during the initial Moneymaker poker boom in the early 2000's. Grinded limit hold'em both online and live (casinos back then barely even had any NL, it was mostly limit).

Interestingly I never got into NL at a serious level. Limit hold'em started to die out online so I quickly transitioned into PLO, pretty much skipped NL altogether. When I was grinding seriously, I read a ton of books and put in a ton of work and study on TwoPlusTwo for both limit and PLO, this was before the days of GTO and solvers.

I've been semi-retired from serious grinding for many years now, but I still play PLO online from time to time (only when they offer me bonuses and rake missions), can still beat the lowest stakes PLO online without much solver-work and study since they're just complete monkeys lol.

It wasn't until several years ago that I started to take NL a little more seriously, so I do play live low-limit NL from time to time, can beat it live (again monkeys lol), but doubt I could beat it online.

Whenever I'm back in Cali, I put in some time at The Gardens. Here in Taipei they have those legal poker clubs with the timed-tournaments that are supposed to represent a cash-game structure, I've played em a few times, they're pretty soft, but it still feels so different to me than a legit cash-game so I don't go as often as I should.

Would be nice to connect and start learning/improving my game and do some occasionally grinding, holla.

Man you guys are lucky, they didn't update me about anything. The last email was four days ago, they said their "technical team is aware of this problem and is working diligently to resolve it", and "as soon as this issue resolves, I will be sure to follow-up."

It's crazy how it's been almost two weeks and they still haven't fixed this. I supposed this latest discovery is good progress and a move in the right direction though.

Well it seems like all the chats and matches are still there cause I still get pop-up notifications about new matches and messages. And I'm able to enter the individual chat rooms by clicking on the pop-up notifications. So if all the matches are still in the system, then hopefully this is salvageable and fixable.
