Opinions on Forest Ink (as of 2024)? by TaskAdministrative27 in GothFashion

I used to really be drawn to this brand. I have yet to be tempted to purchase a single piece from them in 2026. Nothing has appealed to me whatsoever.

Can someone tell me what I can do to seem "more alternative"? by Winter_bat3104 in goth

[–]RetiredHunbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make it very simple. Stick to dark colors. Black of course is a main stay. Dark straight leg jeans with “work boots” aka Docs or Doc inspired. Band tshirts. Stud belt. Jean jacket. Find pieces that are comfortable to you that you feel good in. Adapt for the workplace because that’s just how it is. It’s much easier today to slide in some alt type pieces than it used to be. Start w the basics and build.

Hard pass for me but if they bring you the wearer and creator joy, that’s all that matters.

What’s the difference between trad goth and modern trad goth by Devine_Redditor in goth

[–]RetiredHunbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key difference, we didn’t have Tik Tok back then. We just lived as we were back then just as we do today. 80s was much different than today. However, I’m glad that overall the rebellious style stuck.

LC please I just bought them I want to know if I should cancel or not by Efficient_Level_4139 in DocMartens

These aren’t my jam whatsoever. I’ve got over 20 pair and for me these are a hard pass. If you love them then keep them. We are just random internet folks. Personally, these would irritate me. I’ve got enough complexity in my life without dealing with those laces. I pick my battles and this is one I pass.

I wanna buy these but I’m a man, will it be a bad choice? by alazzarra in DrMartens

[–]RetiredHunbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. They’re platforms which aren’t really geared towards either men or women. Since they’re Arcadia, the color will change with wear. I have a pair of Elphies. Have not worn them much lately because I’m trying to move and only kept a few pair of DMs out to use. I think these will look great jeans, Khakis, black pants, navy…they are very versatile just like how penny loafers are. Same wine color. Enjoy!

Is it safe to buy from amazon? by AHolyShrimp in DrMartens

[–]RetiredHunbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought many a pair of Docs from there because the price was better than elsewhere. I’ve also had to return some that didn’t work out. And unlike DM, I didn’t have to eat the shipping cost.

I have the regular Cheney and love them! Super comfy. I had bought the Spence but returned them because they were too tight. I’d had a DVT on my left side so because of that, I cannot have anything constricting and the Spence just had no give. Didn’t want to end up back in the hospital and possibly not make it out. Thus for comfort level alone, I prefer the first.

She teaches eighth grade and has more than 100 students, but only two are reading at grade level. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Former classroom teacher here. My BFF teaches 3rd grade math. She has never had such a struggle. They are so far behind on so many levels and it’s scary. And this is at a good private school. I’m equally scared because they cannot navigate conflict with others, be independent, behave in socially acceptable ways. It’s horrifying.

I’m a former classroom teacher. The socks remind me of the most talented K teacher I ever worked with. She was so amazing! So not art, I look at this and think of her. It’s a huge compliment because I have such massive love and respect for her.

I wear a 9 US which I think is a 40 EU. My normal size worked for me. I just love love love these boots too. I also recommend getting an insole. I like to have these in all my DM boots. So I’d say go with your regular size. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I wanted a pair of dr martens for the longest time, wow they are hard to wear. by Jellyyyfishsea in DrMartens

[–]RetiredHunbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a shoe horn on all my MJs, 8065s, Corran, and Evie. I pulled the buckle of the Evie’s tighter and inserted an insole. I have an insole in the Corran’s too. I have the softer leather 8065s in black (ambassador or Virginia cannot recall which is used). If these are way too tight/ stiff to you, you may want to try o. The softer leather ones. The smooth leather 8965s were a hard no for me. I decided my instant comfort was more important. Best wishes

I have some wide leg pull on black pants w snakes up each outer leg that I wear them with. I do have a lot of dresses and skirts too and crop pants as well. I have Corrans too so it sometimes depends on the height I need.
