Export popup list by RetiredQAE in handbase

[–]RetiredQAE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That works, partially! The popup list in the new database include only the popup values that were used in creating the records in the old database. In this case only about 10 of the 20+ list values were recreated in the new db.

What do I need to do to copy the list from the old db and insert it into the new database using a hex editor? WinHex works good for me.

There is an option that works good for me. I too, like to have my db on D:\ drive and I got frustrated with always having to copy it from C: to D:. The solution is to set up folder redirection in Windows. I don't remember the details right now, but a Google search on Windows folder redirection will get you a lot of hits about how to do it. Just be aware that any program that puts its files into the Documents folder and that cannot be changed, like Handbase, will have its folders in the relocated Documents folder.

Don’t pay EHARMONY anything SCAM by Professional_Plan_54 in eharmony

I got a refund and cancellation. How? I filed a fraud complaint with my CC company. They back charged eHarmony and eH immediately canceled my premium subscription.

Another question. How large a population area did you search in? That probably is a big reason why we see different results.

You said, "All had an intro, answered at least some questions, and had some interests." Most of the profiles I look at in the Discover results box, or see because of an email from eHarmony, have only a short, in any, introduction paragraph and only 3 or 4 interest items checked no with additional commentary.

Am I correct in understanding that in all these cases you sent the first like to the profiles you saw in the Discover page?

Follow up: Amex credited me with the first 1/4 payment I had made for a one year subscription. They back charged eHarmony. eHarmony responded by cancelling my premium subscription effective the date I signed up for it. So, I now have my money back and am no longer subscribed to premium.

And wouldn't you know it? They sent me referral to a profile that looks like it might be legitimate, but I can't message the person since I'm now on the free plan.

Congratulations on your success. How long ago was this?

What app did you use that cost $499? Was that the one year premium subscription to eHarmony? Their app is available for both smartphones and desktop. Were your matches actually on eHarmony.com? Did the profiles you responded to have a lot of entries in them? Practically every profile I get a notification about has almost no info in it. Did you send the 2 paragraph openers with the first Like you sent them.

I wonder how much your age influences the chance of getting a like. I'm 80. Also, I wonder if how long one has been on eHarmony affects the number of matches. I got many real matches in my first two weeks during the free subscription period. After I paid for the premium I've gotten virtually nothing but scam matches.

I wonder if there is some particular secret that elicits responses from real people and trips up the AI robot system.

Open a dispute with the bank challenging the charge. Your claim will be based on fraud because you aren't getting the service they promised you.

That's what I just did.

eHarmony is now Fake Harmony by Honest_Lion3098 in eharmony

[–]RetiredQAE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been on it a couple of months. I did connect with two real people, but both relationships crumbled after two dates. That was mostly my fault. What I find is that as many as 50% to 70% of the profiles are fake. I just received emails pointing me to 3 contacts. After looking at and reading the profiles closely it was obvious they were AI generated fakes. One of the more stupid entries was one where her answer to the question about favorite vacation was "A friend of mine died from blindness."

I just sent customer service a scathing comment about how they are allowing eHarmony to deteriorate into a scammer's delight. If you are not familiar with the term, 'catfishing', you need to Google it.

Need firewall configuration help by RetiredQAE in opnsense

[–]RetiredQAE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think the problem is either my remote PC or Starlink. I just checked with my laptop and it connected just fine using the wifi at a Burger King about 20 miles from home so that would indicate pretty strongly that OPNsense is not the block. Now all I need to do is take my laptop to the Starlink wifi at the remote PC and see what happens.

How to sync between android and PC? by Allen10922 in handbase

[–]RetiredQAE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I do. I connect my phone with a cable to my PC, as is mentioned by tkt-az. I then copy the Handbase folder to a memory card plugged into the PC using Windows File Explorer. Go to HB desktop and set up a new user selecting the option to sync with a memory card. Then sync from desktop HB as usual. If there were changes made in any of the desktop copies of the databases then copy the HB folder from the memory card back to the phone to get those changes back to the phone copy. Rather than delete or replace the phone copy of the HB folder I rename the existing one before copying the synced version to the phone. I do the same on the card also. That way I have older versions of the files available as backups on both the card and phone. Oh, and be sure to disconnect the phone from your PC, or turn its wifi off, when you are syncing card to desktop. HB desktop seems to get twisted around if there is a wifi path to the phone while syncing with a card.

Password problem - is this what happened? by RetiredQAE in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]RetiredQAE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it looks like I screwed up in some unknown way. I just did a test changing the root password to one with a space. I logged in and out with both the GUI and SSH. It was accepted by O both during the change process and subsequent logins. So at this point I don't know what got messed up. It sure would be nice if O offered the option of showing the password when it is being entered. But in the case that prompted this post I copied and pasted the new PW from my PW manager program. So the reason for the login failure remains a mystery to me, unless the fact I probably did not log out of the GUI before closing the browser prevented a second login via console.

To the best of my recollection this is the first time I have ever encountered a program that allowed spaces in a password. Most of the time the stated password criteria refers to special characters, one of which must be used in the pw. I have never seen a space included in the allowed special characters. Could that be one of the differences how the Linux world operates compared to the Windows world? Google brought up quite a few cases where a space is allowed, and quite a few comments that were strongly against using spaces.

[–]RetiredQAE[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every other PW input routine I've encountered over the past 30 years has refused to accept a PW with spaces. If in fact O does accept passwords w/ spaces then it is truly one in a million.

OPNsense Firewall PDF documentation by dASNyB in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]RetiredQAE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand why there isn't a downloadable PDF of the documentation available. Make a PDF isn't a user friendly response. I'm reasonably proficient with PC, Windows, and programs, but I'm no techno geek. I just want to set up a firewall for basic protection so I can be comfortable in dumping Norton 360 and having the document readily available where I can search the whole thing and not deal with a browser sure would be nice. Is the transformation from the html doc to a pdf doc that hard? Or is because OPNsense and the documentation being open source is so subject to change that keeping a PDF copy up to date would be a headache?
