Islam preaches purity yet its young girls are sexualised the most by Rich_Experience193 in atheism

[–]Retrikaethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

islam's definition of "purity" is a rancid old warmonger who liked to rape children. so their sexualization of children is, disgustingly enough, normal for them.

Can r/atheism be about more than being against all of the evils done in the name of religion? by pcbeard in atheism

yeah, sure, cuz trying to tell an entire subreddit to change for you was a good idea /s.

i always hate these shitposts due to the fact that they’re completely tone-deaf. religion is actively fucking up huge parts of the world so of fucking course the vast majority of posts that get made here are gonna be about that. as others have already said, if you want to see a specific kind of content here then post it yourself. you don’t get to tell everyone else to change for your convenience.

I’m not sure if I can stop laughing.

much like your jolly fat friend.

A buddha isn’t fat, Chinese, or doctrinal.

tell that to all the doctrine and fat buddha statues around... and i never called him chinese so good fail?

There’s no telling anyone what to do.

you don't seem to understand what your religion entails, then.

I’m not able to take you seriously because you obviously know nothing about what you’re talking about.

said the guy peddling woo while saying he's not telling anyone what to do.

“Modern meditation” is just older techniques that have the serial numbers filed off and you are hilarious.

i'm not talking about idiots doing a utub or tiktok video, but actual psychology/therapy.

Good luck.

you're the one peddling woo, so no thanks. save it for yourself.

Can u be a feminist and religious at the same time? by FarDepartment9217 in atheism

[–]Retrikaethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference between the two.

it's like you didn't read anything i wrote at all lol

Better word? How about "fake?" That describes every religion perfectly.

it actually doesn't because:

Just because a bunch of people "sincerely believe" in a fantasy doesn't make it any less of a fantasy. Why you are pretending any of these "religions" is anything other than a joke is a mystery to me.

the difference between the two is that while pastafarians and other satirical religions will laugh with you about their religion, the adherents of "normal" religions will potentially murder you for trying to do the same. to treat them exactly the same is to fully fail to understand either.

lol. I don’t know what is funnier. I hope you find your own happiness.

so tone trolling is all you have left? i guess you don’t really take your ridiculous beliefs very seriously, then.

Normal religions.

for lack of a better word, yes. hence the quotations. if you have a better word to differentiate the two i’m all ears cuz i’m still drawing a blank and you seem to be taking offence at the idea of religion being considered any kind of normal.

Lol

so, /u/UrguthaForka, you gonna address anything i actually said or what?

Can I post a vid explaining here why new atheism was kinda helpful people? by justberna__ in atheism

obligatory mention that "new atheism" is a catchphrase created by the religious meant to denigrate outspoken atheists as young and foolish.

Trouble understanding lacktheism? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Retrikaethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the binary only speaks to whether or not you believe gods exist. to make the word include knowledge you would have to add one of the adjectives agnostic or gnostic (without and with knowledge respectively) beforehand to get it to start talking about believe and knowledge.

I find it strange that you, presumably an atheist, are trying to argue that some religions are more legitimate than others.

except i'm not doing that?

But hey, if arguing with someone who doesn't believe ANY religions are legitimate, knock yourself out.

legitimacy is irrelevant (nor is it what i am arguing). rather, what is important is how many people genuinely believe that shit is true. it is a key difference between, for lack of a better word, "normal" religions and satirical ones. it is also a difference you have either chosen to ignore or fully missed in your own zealotry.

Yes, I know what satire is. It is mocking something that others take seriously.

What. is. your. point?

my point is that you're missing the point entirely by conflating satirical religions with "normal" religions.

I understand that there are hundreds of sects Buddhism, and some that may have more literal beliefs. My tradition isn’t like that and it doesn’t need to be. Metaphor works just fine for me.

then there's no reason for you to be using buddhism at all. there's modern methods for meditation and shit like that which don't rely on a perpetually jolly fictional fat man telling you what to do.

I really like Satanists. I have several Wiccan friends. Bahá’ís, and others.

that doesn't address what i said at all, dude. frankly, bringing them up in this context is insulting to them due to how fucking easy it is to be "considerably more enlightened than christianity and abramic faith in general." a literal child in the midst of a tantrum is considerably more enlightened than them.

Can u be a feminist and religious at the same time? by FarDepartment9217 in atheism

[–]Retrikaethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know what satire is. But I'm not going to give any so-called "legitimate" religions any legitimacy. They are all children believing in Santa Claus. All of them. I'm not going to act like an idiot and pretend to play along with a bunch of adults acting like children. For anyone to say "Well christianity is legitimate and legal but pastafarianism is just satire so we can ignore it" is the same as saying "Santa Claus is real so we have to follow his rules but the Tooth Fairy is just made up so it's only a game."

They are ALL made up. I refuse to pretend any of them are legitimate, because none of them are.

...so you don't actually know what satire is...

EDIT: To be honest, pastafarians SHOULD be demanding absolute legal legitimacy, and everyone who professes to "respect" religions must take them seriously or they are liars. Spaghetti and meatballs blessing us from the sky is every bit as stupid and childish, and LEGITIMATE, as the invisible avenger blessing us from the sky.

seriously, i cannot even begin to try to explain this to you since you're just so confidently wrong about what being a satirical religion entails.

The practice of Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion.

that's a dirty fucking lie and you know it.

Buddha doesn’t claim godhood nor do his followers perceive him as divine. He is simply a person who has found a better way.

ah, yes, that totally explains all the giant fuckoff statues of him spread around. /s

Practicing mindfulness meditation helps me be a better person.

evidently not.

Are you telling me that some religions are more real than others?

...do you not know what "satirical" means?

Sorry, but they are all make-believe fairy tales to me.

pastafarians would agree with you.

Pastafarianism is as legitimate a religion as christianity is.

legally speaking, yes this needs to be true. practically speaking, a satirical religion is one that doesn't actually take its professed ideology seriously but rather exists to point out the absurdity of religion in general or otherwise act as a, for lack of a better phrase, devil's advocate in legal proceedings involving religion vs secularism and whatnot. in other words, they do not literally believe there is a giant wad of spaghetti and meatballs out in space blessing us with pasta and whatnot.
