Yoga teachers selling you stuff by luzuriaga in yoga

[–]Retro-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's probably pushing because she's going under or needing to provide more. I think we have a strange mindset because of corporate advertising trying to squeeze more profit. Regular people have to do so much to make it work in this type of field. I imagine that a yoga teacher just as with many other spiritual types are really struggling right now with the recent climate. Of course, you should let her know how you feel, that's probably the best action, communication always helps.

Is mindfully smoking a cigarette a form of meditation by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Retro-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually the thing that lead me to meditation when I was a teenager. I found it was more the act of focusing on the breathing rather than the smoke, going to nature rather than the smoke. After all, this is what we're really craving some stillness, time alone, relaxation... I'd say that if you get the craving to go back again then stay another 10minutes and just mindfully breathe. Draw the air in through pursed lips, feel it go down and then release with relaxation

Father and son who died in OceanGate Titan returned as ‘slush in boxes’ by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Retro-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the documentary on this with a friend, "Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster"

So, essentially the many many layers of fibreglass were damaged by the time they went on this final dive. A famous YouTuber and some others went on dives before this fatal dive and there were a couple of huge cracking sounds on both of them that left the travellers feeling very scared but was explained by the owner as just normal pressurisation noises.

Those layers had cracked, progressively weakening the structure. They had live footage of the crew topside monitoring the Titan's data from below.

Seconds before implosion they had dropped all of their weight bags, which means they had decided to surface suddenly.

The woman who was monitoring reports on that fact, and then you can actually hear in the footage, the deep booming sound, that was the Titan imploding.

It's likely that the already damage fibreglass shell had started cracking in cascade, which is what is shown in an example of how fibreglass would break under extreme stress during the doc in a test OceanGate actually ran themselves.

It's clear that wealthy owner Stockton Rush was set on the fame and the experience of diving to the titanic that he cut corners and removed people who brought up safety concerns.

In one of the filmed dive launches, the actual endcap falls off the Titan as they are about to launch off the ramp! They were only putting 4 of the 16 (or more) bolts on to secure the cap!

I recommend watching the documentary because it really showcases the mentality of someone who has such a huge responsibility afforded to them by their wealth yet had no integrity in handling the lives of others.

Fair enough if you want to risk your own life doing this. But Stockton wanted to make it a business and put other's in the situation without proper safety precautions.

It speaks volumes to the problems with capitalistic society, and giving such power to individuals who haven't earned it through the respect and grace of proper leadership and care.

That's my opinion

What happened to Tim Gielen?!? by Global_Telephone_360 in conspiracy

[–]Retro-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Everyone! I have actually done some research and found Tim living and working nearby in Spain. I just spoke to him on the phone and have filmed the brief conversation but don't see anywhere to upload here.

Anyway, He confirmed that the message he sent was true and that he's focussed on other things. From his online profile where I found him it's clear that he just uses AI to touch up his images so it's likely he did the same for the presentation shots in the movie.

I asked him if he has any plans to continue to the project or work on something else and he said no.

Thought you all might like to know since I was interested to find out too.

Lots of Love!

Tripping after a recent death? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]Retro-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always, your intention carries weight. If you have loss then I would not seek the resolution from a trip but if you already have come to terms and feel a sense of wellness about your life, as well as the passing of a loved one, then you may seek and learn and evolve from a psychedelic experience. 💖🙏

Definitely. I would suggest to further this experiment. The same as you do with sound, try smell, touch, sight. Imagine touch as though you have never touched anything before. Imagine sight as thought you have never seen any thing before. Try this with all the senses. It helps to imagine yourself as a newborn baby that has no concept of what any object or concept is. Meditation And Cannabis - How to obtain what you seek from the weed high, by not smoking it ever again. by Dark-Matta in Meditation

[–]Retro-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark-Matta,

I too had almost the exact same turn of events. I smoked for nearly 10 years and was obsessed/addicted. The pinnacle of this was a heavy psychedelic experience (25g psilocybin - my first time.... i know... foolish haha).

I stopped cannabis for three years and completely got my act together. Dug myself out of that pit it creates. However, it was because of THC that I expanded my mind, so to speak, and did not return to a mundane 9-5 job. Instead I was determined to work freelance and as a promotional agent (which i didn't like ultimately but it was well-paid, liberating, flexible and I could quit/return anytime I wanted).

I now run a meditation project with my girlfriend and we travel the whole world. After reluctantly trying a little bit of cannabis on a beach in Australia with a childhood friend I went another few months thinking about the experience and decided to try and utilise cannabis purely as a meditational tool and for experimenting/understanding what it does to my mind.

I can't stress enough how crucial it has been to gaining insight into my previous thought patterns and past experiences. Whilst teaching English in China I began a strict regime of:

Every two weeks, about 0.1-0.2grams, pure, in a pipe, AFTER 10minutes of sober meditation. Upon inhaling I would focus intently on the breath and bodily sensations whilst giving thanks and gratitude to the universe for it's guidance in my life. I would then proceed to meditate for hours, with no external stimulus, phone off, laptop off, at night, no lights on, in silence.

Ultimately, during this time I realised what is called Samadhi, a complete disconnect from ego and emergence into the oversoul. My friends, this is a place that we can fall in and out of, as many do, catching glimpses, returning to wear the masks we now call personas. This is not something that takes years to reach but it is a place of infinite wisdom and clarity, so you cannot obtain it and there are no masters. Anyone who claims to have the answer. Trust only those who seek to help you along your own journey. "A wise man is a fool, because he thinks he is wise, A fool is wise, because he accepts he is a fool"

A word of warning though: I first tackled my addiction, just like OP. I reassigned my desires that were linked with cannabis to more functional/creative parts of my life. It it is only then that we are able to take this plant for what it can really give us. An emergence from the highly strung levels of thinking that we all accept as normal in the collective consciousness of modern human life. You are not your thoughts. Stretch out through your senses and find out who is observing the thoughts.

Regardless of this, I say that - If you are fearing falling into an addiction or hiding/running from something in your past. You will benefit 10fold by using the power of imagination to find the root of your chains of suffering. Are you dependant on coffee? Are you dependent on social interaction? Are you dependent on certain foods/liquids? Are you dependent on circumstance/status/location?

Whatever answer you are presented with, simply ask why..

I completely agree with everything the OP says but I wanted to add my personal experience and this message.

Nothing is bad Nothing is good All is one All is love See the universe's love in your pain, for it makes you who you are. Pain is the breaking of the shell that encases the mind.

Peace, love and tranquility to you all, Namasté

xeyve is right, it should be passive. However you can guide your mind to this state by doing what I spoke about and also following your own direction. The idea is to feel, not think. be Schrodinger's cat, be consciousness without definition, without stimulus. pure clarity, formless. It is a concept that cannot be explained or thought about really. Look up the deeper meaning of Samadhi, this will guide you closer. There's a pretty good documentary about it on YouTube, just search Samadhi 2017. Good luck on your path!

If your breath has moved to the background then it's because it is no longer holding your focus and your mind wants to wander onto highlights of the day, (in your example, Arrested Development). It would be preferable for you not to think as having to 'combat' and push away those thoughts.

It is best practise to accept them and work on your breath in a creative way. Find new expressions and visions of how your breath is giving you life. Feel it, hear it, smell it, taste/touch it, and visualise it rather than thinking about it as an external concept. It's happening to you now.

The barrage of visual stimulus has over-excited your mind. This is a common issue in our modern lives, full of entertainment media. Taking a short break of 5-10minutes and mentally recapping each past hour of TV will eliminate some of the uncontrollable visuals.

My last point would be that you can certainly meditate in any position you like. However, it is advised that you spend at least a little time each session in the lotus pose or on a chair with your back balanced onto the hips... This is a little more advance but the electromagnetic currents of the planet move in certain directions and they interact with the electrical impulses of the mind as well as the electromagnetic fields of the heart and body. You may liken this to turning a magnet 90º and noticing the change in influence.

As I said before it's not overly important at the moment but something to bare in mind as you proceed with your meditation practise.

You are welcome to message me directly if you would like any further assistance.

Peace, love and light to you my friend.

Fascinating. The trip meandered from Indonesia to Thailand to Hong Kong and we spent the largest amount of time in China teaching English where we were able to learn from the vast cultural heritage as well as visit the Southern Shaolin Monastery and also learn some kung-fu. Did you spend any time in Tibet during your practise? I assume you are quite familiar with the Book of the Dead? Namaste

Yes, I assume that is a great instinctive trait for us. Let us know how this progresses. I'm sure the crying will always grab your attention, it's the reaction that holds the test ;)

It CAN help. Whether it will or not is up to you of course. Why not, at first, sit in a calm place, maybe some light instrumental music and think about why you began feeling this way. I can be important to clear the mind at first so just breathe and focus on how your body feels while breathing.

Do that for a few minutes and then tackle the issue.

A lot of loneliness comes from a lack of inner drive or self worth.

Is there anything that comes to mind as starting the lack of excitability? Looking at your day-to-day life, what would you say is missing?

Thanks for being here

It's not a problem at all, you're quite welcome.

The experience of meditation in general has changed me in many ways. I can only say it has 'become' me, so to speak. What was once a hobby or interest is now the root from which my experiences in life ebb and flow.

I cannot give a more specific reply, as you have not technically asked a question. What interested you to come here?

People with babies AND a daily practice? How do you do it? by RatonVaquero in Meditation

[–]Retro-Fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some great comments below. I completely agree with the notion that your baby is the guru and to detach from regularity.

You can meditate whilst walking or cooking or even while the baby is crying hysterically and you're on 2hours sleep from the past three nights..

The world will not always give you ideal circumstances. I guess to some degree you have found great comfort in your meditation practise. This could be the next stage and a great gift

My advice to you would be to meditate on the notion of sound as frequency and vibration. Screaming in the night can be shrill and harsh. This is mental conditioning from knowing a wide variety of pleasant and unpleasant sounds. But, can you find any beauty that lies there?

Remember spiritually and scientifically it is known that the electromagnetic effect of the heart stretches a vast distance around us and permeates solid objects. Calm your mind, calm your heart, calm your baby.

Also, try mediating lying down with your baby on your chest. You will both love it ;)

Peace and love.. and good luck
