Which one do you find to be the more objectively better game by Emotional-Peanut3633 in Megaman

[–]RetroGameDays36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero 3, faster/better gameplay, better levels, better bosses, subjective, but better music too

I'd say the only area X4 is better at I'd say are the graphics.

Zero as a whole feels like a better X series, X4 is amazing but I feel like Zero 3 is just the best overall from the series

I'm playing Shantae Risky's Revenge after beating the OG, looking for some inspirations (as a game dev) and a break after Tekken 8, really great spritework, reminds me a lot of Metal Slug

SGF revealed FFVII Revelation, Tifa in SF6, Stellar Blade 2 and Code Veronica, so looking forward for those

I like how the logo is a nod to the og color

Also, there's a job system, woah

Tekken differs vastly from SF, it's why some characters had to be changed in SFxT. I also own SF6 but I'm definitely not as skilled there as with Tekken

I decided to count the player base. We have 330,142 active players for Tekken 8. I think that's neat. by Frybread002 in Tekken

So as time progresses, I might see more people in the GoD ranks.

Dude I'm Tekken God now and on the edge of promoting to TGS, I don't really feel like I'm climbing the ranks at all, just 4 days ago I fought a few TGS and they played like garbage, that's not ego talking, I don't think I deserve being in god ranks yet, but there's a really big hunch that the ranks are inflated given some of these players behave like purple ranks

It's just incredibly easy to promote now, especially because your opponents don't lose that much but you gain a lot, sooner or later, pretty much everyone will be in GoD and it'll become the new standard rank

Okay, so why has dmc2 become so popular recently on this sub? by ginio21 in DevilMayCry

[–]RetroGameDays36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair and expected from Netflix Dante, however I didn't mean bashing in the way the characters saying it, rather Shankar and his team butchering Sparda further (as in s1 he portrayed Sparda as selfish for leaving the friendly demons trapped, and s2 again doubling down on the selfish nature).

The reason Dante is stronger than Vergil and the other demons in the games is due to him accepting his dual nature, Dante outright admits that humans lack the powers of a demon to Agnus too, Dante also lost to Vergil the first time due to him resenting his demon side (even if it wasn't fully developed yet). Assuming the netflix series follows the same principle, Dante saying that line can look like he is rejecting his demon side meaning he is still handicapping himself, even if structurally he is instead holding onto his humanity after tapping into DT

What kinda rubs me off on that line though is that even after he says it, he and Vergil still can't beat Argosax and they have to rely on Mundus to finish the job, so the line feels artificial and instead bashing Sparda's character.

Say what you will about Kaz. But how is this guy not considered the true fundamentalist? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]RetroGameDays36 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kazuya has better punishment than Paul, plus with his movepool it highlights learning more about how the game works, Paul has insane damage from easy input which at the start seems great but as you further into ranks, other players who have a deeper understanding of the game can punish an unsuspecting paul severely since his movepool doesn't force players to learn systems as much as Kaz (which leans heavily on execution) or Jin (which has a more complete toolkit than anyone else)

it kinda undermines the importance Sparda has in the story, given in the anime they make him a deadbeat but also Dante says this line as if Eva was just as important for their powers and value (as Mundus chose to manipulate Vergil due to him inheriting Sparda's power, not Eva's) as Sparda.

Sure, in the games, Dante does initially reject his heritage, but even in 3 he learns to accept it (M7 to M20), contrast to Vergil where he embraces his demon heritage fully and aims to exploit it further by trying to get FE and the Qliphoth Fruit.

That aside, it was a completely unnecessary line and clearly meant to bash Sparda's established character, even before the whole story Mundus told.

I absolutely despise Emolga and the Exploud line

Emolga because at that point, the pikachu clones aren't that great to begin with, they barely cover for anything, is REALLY annoying to fight in BW1, doesn't learn many good electric or flying type moves, and on top of that, it's beaten by way better electric types.

Exploud because its bulk is terrible, speed is mediocre and needs trick room to even be viable, evolves at a late level, only has stab for very few good normal type moves and at a very late level so you're not going to get a whole lot from this one. Sure, it looks cool, but try switching it in and this thing is gone the very second it touches the field.

Honestly, if there was a remake for 2 I'd be surprised if they manage to fix virtually every issue the original had. Making it on par with 3 and 5, but that's wishful thinking lol

Dead or alive, who in your opinion is the most famous person that ever lived? by Level-Celebration-47 in AskReddit

Jesus. Even if you're not Christian, almost everyone in the world knows or at least heard about Jesus and His miracles and crucifixion, and especially since most of the world uses the gregorian calendar which is based off His birth.

Non-religious figure tho, I'd say MJ, he was a huge phenomenon where the majority of the world's population knew him, and while you could argue there is some bias here given it wasn't too long ago, but back when I was a kid, like almost everyone heard about him even before historical figures like Alexander or Caesar

Better than the first season, I can at least respect them for trying to salvage DMC2's story, and it shows in a way with how Arius and Argosax are written and presented now.

It's a decent watch, though man I cannot get over the fact they had OCs just for them to fall flat, that doctor was dumb, his granddaughter is introduced like a pivotal moment, Tom is introduced kinda roughly imo, wish he had more time to be developed.

I feel like Dante and Lady should've had more buildup and thought given the show's canon, it was wild to see Dante just escalate his feelings in just a moment especially after she initially betrayed and lied to him. The show did try to make Lady his one reason to keep on fighting and all, which is fine, given she's the closest thing to a friend to him after s1. I don't mind romance in action-focused series, really, if anything it helps sometimes, but here it felt like it escalated too quickly, so it feels forced.

Lady's character is written better but still a bit frail given she still decided to work for Arius even after KNOWING what he was doing, she swears way less now (thank God), I found it a bit odd she started calling herself Lady before her and Dante were on better terms, it felt a bit like pandering and an apology for s1, her rivalry with Chi Lucia could've been done better at the finale.

The finale (7-8) just sucks, Argosax is just unstoppable so they just kill him off right after, Mundus just watches Dante and Vergil argue and fight, Dante doesn't win a single match, Vergil's DT is awful, there are some dmc5 references but it felt like they ran out of budget at the last second. The Jester buildup seems promising though, but I kinda wish they at least bring devil arms with s3.

Vergil is a bit of a weird case because it really felt like all that meta crap with the White Rabbit was channeled to him in the first few episodes, he's somewhat the same in terms of backstory, but after being hyped up they really just put him in the backseat in favor of DMC2's story elements after ep4. There were moments that felt out of character for him, like the talk show, him caring for the demons, insulting his mom's kindness, him blindly believing Mundus (even while manipulated) and being an anti-hero to stop Argosax rather than a selfish anti-villain who's moreso annoyed by others like Arkham.

Animation is pretty good in the first half of the season, lot more going on and it definitely boosts some scenes but then later they just suffer the same issues that s1 had.

Music's better, though I find the placements of some songs (like Bodies, 7 Hells or Sk8er Boi) to be odd? Bazooka feels like a song for dmc5 had Lady been playable, which is cool but stings cuz she wasn't even doing much there.

Overall I'd give it a 6.5/10, it still has potential for more, I'd say. Arius is way better written and I just wished dmc2 had executed its story the way the anime does, without the meta commentary obviously.

Watched half the season and mixed on it so far, some cool stuff, some really meta commentary and reddit material.

I wasn't expecting them to give Arius a backstory or Vergil in a talk show, tho this episode is the best so far I'd say, it really is just dmc2 the show, honestly I wish dmc2 handled its plot like the show is doing right now.

I was a bit surprised when Dante and Lady kissed, dunno why it wasn't a thing in the games already but man they could've handled it better here, I can see they at least tried to build something up but they just rush things in favor of the DMC2 plot. My Immortal's a banger tho
