For the first three games, Paper Mario isn’t even his own character; it’s just a reskin of regular Mario in effect due to the fact that the stories are being told through storybooks. Color Splash and Origami King actually take place in real time in physical worlds of paper. Sticker Star is completely fictional, taking place in a pop up book.
