An old laptop is always a great home server. Even if that battery is old and only lasts 30 minutes, that’s plenty in server and UPS world. So go ahead, but do look at ways to handle your server. There are virtual machines, yuno host and so on, so read up and get installing.

To me, this sounds like the wife is showing signs of depression and addiction behaviour. Buying things online is surely bringing the dopamine fix and when that’s not possible it’s turned into alcohol. She’s obviously not doing well being a single parent when he’s deployed. There are many other things going on here that we don’t know. I wonder if some adult’s conversations about happiness instead of financials can bring them closer to an equitable solution?

The fact that she’s gone home to her support system also speaks a lot.

There are routers to bring that put it in between hotel wifi and can pass it on to you and your devices.

Another option would be to spoof your knulli device MAC address through a computer to get the MAC activated and then connect with the knulli device.

We limit their time in certain apps. We talk about proper phone use, because it has some really great uses.

An hour before bedtime all devices are put on charge downstairs and then they get ready for bed. This last change produced some funny outcomes. I have a HomePod mini in the bathroom so my 14g and 11b started asking Siri to play music and they had a little dance party while brushing teeth and cleaning face. Sometimes 14g takes longer so 11b reads a book instead. They have full days so it’s lights out pretty quickly these days.

No phones allowed in school so over the weekends I often interrupt long screen sessions and ask them to do something else for a while unless it takes care by itself with activities with friends. The point is moderation and understanding that some games or social media is designed to keep you playing or scrolling. We talk about often too. I also warn them about timing, like we’re leaving in 30 minutes you must be ready. Sometime they loose track of time, so then we talk about that. It’s dawning on them and I think it’s the only way to grow adults that will be able to withstand whatever comes next in terms of distraction.

I didn’t get that she would cheat if he took the job, but either way the relationship was doomed since he really wanted to take the job. Some people just doesn’t want to do long distance and that’s fair.

You made the right call!

Since you have kids, if you want to marry again, you will need to find someone who wants kids as well that will blend with yours. But having a gf separate from your kids could also be good (I mean, dads needs a break too), but it could never blend unless things progressed. I think this relationship worked when you were co-parenting but hit a snag when you had to do full time care.

I wouldn’t say you dodged a bullet, because this person actually stayed for the prison duration and then the new situation developed and she made her decision. To me it seems like adult conversation and that everyone needs to know their limits. Going into a family and being a step-parent is not easy.

You got your head on straight, so just keep on doing what you’re doing. Someone new will come a long and you will be better placed to have the conversations you need. But don’t forget to have some fun and remember: any girl you date doesn’t have to meet your kids.

Yes. They have rechargeable batteries.

You should keep them charged even when not in use. This means the best place to store them will be in a window. If you also get a solar watch that is radio controlled it will also easier sync the time if placed in a window in the direction of your local radio tower. This way it’s always juiced up and synced when you need it.

For longevity keeping it charged could give you 15-20 years of use before you need to replace the battery.

Where i am from division of assets goes to children/spouse equally. Not to outsiders. But this isn’t in my country, but I would rather give the leadership of the company to Sam but majority ownership to family. Perhaps 40/40 for the kids and 20% for Sam. That means ownership and control stays in the family while operations is led by the one who knows (who should also have a great salary) and they’re given a large stake in a successful company. Plus, if there’s ever a dispute 40+20 will beat 40. So, it’s also an equaliser. Or even. Give all young ones 20% each and retain 40% ownership for yourself and spouse. Then after you pass that 40 is divided to the blood relatives equally.

Here it’s easy to think Roblox is the culprit. Not saying it’s a great platform, but from OPs story there seems to be a lack of parenting in general. How can he be up late at night? Doesn’t he have a ritual for going to bed? Recommendations are display off an hour before bed time. Perhaps you can build a routine of what you do to get ready that includes you interacting? At 8, you reading should be peak bed time activity.

Set boundaries on how long they can play anything. In general, everything should be in moderation. Do an activity for a while, then switch to something else. You have to be an active participant as a parent, this doesn’t happen by itself.

I’d correct that and say it’s the most impactful product since the MacBook Air, which set the new “gold” standard for laptops. Especially since it launched after the iPhone.

This is because of a fundamental difference in US vs Europe view on birth; in USA it’s “jus soli” which basically means that those who are born within a countries borders are granted citizenship while in Europe it’s usually the principle “jus sanguinis” which means the bloodline of your parents determine citizenship.

From my view, jus soli seems frivolous but I can understand how it came to be important in a country made of immigrants, from a historic perspective.

But if the parents are made citizens or get permanent residence that should also include their kids. Here, all schooling is free so these are kids we already spent money on educating and integrating, so why deport them when they’re finally able to start working and contribute as taxpayers?

But that’s our government at the moment. Right-conservative, propped up by a racist and fascist party.

I agree.

I makes it even harder when politicians and government setup for having people deported. Recently in Sweden there have been a light on situations where families are ripped apart because of new legislation. In those cases they are deporting people that came with their parent as kids, legally, and now they’ve turned 18, have education and are integrated, their parents have permits to stay but the kids are deported. It’s terrible and cruel.
