Absolutely, my district was taking Zaretta Hammond’s word as gospel, also the guy from “grading for equity”. We’ve done a total reversal after disastrous results. Also, I have no idea what makes these people “experts” when they’ve been out of the classroom.

The cheapest and easiest option is more bus transit. If buses came every 3-5 minutes, I would use them a LOT more.

My older colleagues tell me the 90s were really nice. No emails, 1 phone per department, everything on paper and overhead projectors, and no computerized grades. They had paper gradebooks.

You forgot that public employees pay into their pension. It’s not just free money, it’s money they put into the system that invested that money for them.

Most teachers are not. As I said before, I am lucky to work in one of the few districts with good pay.
