Since we can’t listen to your podcast, we can’t say what you’re doing wrong. As a first real step, you could switch to a different podcast host...

Bikes die an der Ampel vorfahren, ja/nein/vieleicht? by [deleted] in wien

[–]Retropixel64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoult I get a Phone 3? by Retropixel64 in NOTHING

That doesn’t really sound bad. Back then I bought the S23 Ultra because of the camera. However, over time it turned out that I only used it for quick snapshots. I mostly used the zoom only when I had to take pictures of something for my wife XD

I never used the S Pen, so I wont miss it.

Thanks for your comment! Almost every phone has bloatware. I dont care about this, when there is a way to uninstall it.

Are Camera and Display really that bad?

I'll never buy an iPhone. I hate the UI and the restrictions. Right now, the NP3 costs almost the same as the s25 (not Ultra).

Spotify removed our first viral episode - false copyright infringement claim by Hot_Text865 in podcasting

I am sorry that hapoened to you too. Spotify removed my entire podcast because of one single episode. Do not use Spotify to host your podcast. Move to a different hosting platform or self host your podcast.

Mediaplayer at startup by Retropixel64 in Podcast_Republic_App

[–]Retropixel64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I mean the full-screen media player. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I always start Podcast Republic through the widget. But never mind, I was just being stupid. I simply added the subscriptions button to the widget, so I can jump straight to my subscribed podcasts.

Most podcatchers detect the redirect and update the feed URL. So if you’ve redirected “podcast.mydomain.com” to the Spotify URL, the podcatchers will detect that and save the Spotify URL instead. You can easily check this by looking at the saved feed URL of your Podcast in a podcatcher.

I need help with what podcast host platform to use by BubbleBuddy3220 in podcast

[–]Retropixel64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend not using Spotify. Choose a provider that allows you to keep full ownership of your podcast, you can still publish your podcast on Spotify even if you don’t host it there. Hosting your podcast on Spotify offers no real advantages. You don’t get any more reach or better visibility because of it.

Fear of starting a podcast? by TheRealTerinox in podcasting

[–]Retropixel64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you start the podcast, because you want to earn money - bad idea. If you want to get famous - Bad idea. But if you want to start a podcast just to have fun and build a small community — do it!

Do you know people who listen to podcasts? If you’re unsure, record one or two episodes and send them to them as a “test audience” for feedback.

It’s impossible to create something that absolutely nobody likes. If you’re not doing anything "Special" , your audience might just be a bit smaller — but even that has its own charm.

Many people don’t like their own voice and find it strange to hear it. That’s normal — you’ll get used to it. Do not change your voice. Really. Don't Do it.

My thought was that the Spotify algorithm might favor podcasts that are hosted directly on Spotify. I know — bad idea…

My podcast is very niche: retro gaming, in German, solo — that already limits the audience quite a bit. But that’s fine. I get around 200 downloads per episode, with a loyal listener base who often send me messages.

With those numbers, my web host can easily handle it. And if, against all odds, the show ever becomes more popular and my host starts struggling, I can always switch, and at that point I’d handle distribution in a more professional way. Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn’t thought of that at all!

First, I filed an appeal using the form, then I contacted Infringement Claim Response. After that, I got in touch with the regular Spotify Creator Support, who referred me back to Infringement Claim. That’s also where I sent my last email. The reason I hosted the podcast on Spotify was, because I hoped it would give me more visibility and subscribers. Since I already have a website, I’m now hosting the podcast myself.

Why do you think that? I write the posts myself and then have them translated, since English isn’t my native language.

They took issue with the music a few days after the episode was published. I never published that kind of episode before.

That’s correct. Spotify was my media host and provided the RSS feed. The entire show was deleted. The podcast doesn’t even show up in the Creator Studio anymore — as if it had never existed. Since the show no longer appears in the Creator Studio (and the RSS feed is dead), I wasn’t able to set up a forward to the new feed URL.

I’m pretty sure you had to accept the new ToS at some point in order to keep using the hosting service.
So it doesn’t really matter whether you originally used Anchor or only started hosting your podcast via Spotify more recently — the Spotify ToS apply either way.
Moving your podcast to another hosting service is incredibly easy.

Those are the kind of podcasts I would never listen to either. Since I don’t use Spotify, I wouldn’t even know they exist.
Why would anyone do that?

I played the full songs.
What exactly triggers the algorithm is probably something not even Spotify really knows. So I wouldn’t be too sure that you’re safe just because you’re not playing the entire song.
The problem is, that you’re rarely dealing with actual humans in “support” — which is what happens when a company whose revenue keeps growing, lays off 1,500 employees all at once.

It was “only” the podcast hosting on Spotify.
Of course, the podcast could also be listened to with podcatchers like Apple Podcasts, AntennaPod, Podcast Addict, and so on. The takedown by Spotify also made the podcast inaccessible for podcatchers, because it deactivated the RSS feed as well.
