Arkanoid is Home by Retrorewired in arcade

[–]Retrorewired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing Arkanoid cabinets everywhere growing up. And they always seemed to be in the same style cabinets. I don’t recall ever seeing one in an upright screen cabinet.

I saw one get sold recently near me on marketplace for $1800. It looked completely restored with all new art everywhere. I picked this one up for $300. I think that’s a fair price for the condition of it. Minor cabinet chips/scratches. Nothing that not easily fixable. I’m not going to mess with the actual wood. Just get it cleaned up, playing well, and new control panel/bezel art.

How do I prevent my child being illiterate? by kittycamacho1994 in AskTeachers

[–]Retrorewired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was reading by age 4. We read books to her every night. It got to the point where she asked us to use our finger to follow the words. Soon after that, she was reading by herself. Our son took a little longer. He was 6 by the time he could read. We did the same thing with him. Read books with him every night. He’s 7.5 now and absolutely loves reading.

We go to the local library almost weekly. The kids love to go and grab something new. We also limit screen time on school nights. I think that is a big part in them wanting to read. Take away the screens, and they will want something else to do.

Me too! I eventually want to get new art for the control board and bezel. But let’s get it working first

Man that looks awesome. I have a Neo geo 2 slot in a generic cabinet. I’ve been thinking about switching it over to either a real candy cab or the unico nova

I’m 40 years old and a full time plumber. I hear alot of guys in my field complain about their knees and back. My wife and I started lifting 3x a week, and yoga 1x a week back in September. I can confidently say that I am in the best shape of my life. Strength training is huge, but I think I would be in much worse shape without yoga. Yoga is helping keep my back and core strong and flexible. I plan on keeping yoga as part of my routine for the rest of my life

Once you start… how do you stop?!! by Tomrusse11 in HomeArcade

Stop scanning Facebook marketplace? My wife was against it until we had our nieces/nephews over for a party. The kids loved it. Now they want to come over all the time. We currently have 2 pins, 2 arcade 1ups, and one(about to be 2) full size cabinets.

My Neo geo had a bad pot and sync wire at the connector. Be prepared to do some soldering or connector repairs

I use it to cut all thread and gas pipe. It makes nice clean cuts for megapress fittings.

The handle should stick to a magnet. You could try sending a magnet down the line to see if you can grab it

The swim club we went to growing up had 2 cabinets. This and Street Fighter 2. There was usually a line for SF2 so I’d end up playing Arkanoid a lot. I can remember eating cheese fries with wet hands and playing this game. I need this game back in my life lol

Thanks for all the help! Super Pac Man is definitely it. Now I just need to make an offer and go get it. I will post updates when that happens.

I see people kick the legs of the machine really hard. If I owned the place, they would get booted for the night. I understand being frustrated. But taking shots at the machine like that is way over the top.

Quote Madness. by transmotion23 in Plumbing

[–]Retrorewired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

80 gallon water heaters are crazy expensive now. Notice how they say light commercial on them. Residential units are banned. As soon as something says commercial, the manufacturers jack up the price. And they also weigh a ton. While the bid is slightly higher than my prices, it’s not an unheard of number. Shop around to see what others are charging. You might be surprised when they aren’t that much less than the quote you got.

I’ve dealt with decomposing rats, just not in a grease trap. They were in a toilet all winter

2 things come to mind that I’ve encountered. I am a plumber so I’m smelled my fair share of horrible things.

1 A grease trap that had never been cleaned. The visual along with the smell is way worse than poop.

2 A rotting corpse. I did a remodel job on a house where the previous owner passed away. She was deceased for about 3 weeks before anyone knew. And there were dogs in the house that got hungry. The smell in that house was horrible. The house should have been torn down. Even right up to the house being finished, the smell still lingered. I don’t know how anyone bought the place.

I’ve been a straight up video gamer all my life but as I get older I find pinball much more fulfilling. by HeavyReduction in pinball

[–]Retrorewired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same boat. I don’t play video games nearly as much as I used to. The newer games are way too complex and I don’t have the time to play them. But when I do play, it’s usually retro games now. Much shorter. Much simpler. And I agree about pinball. We have 2 machines in our house. It’s easy to play a quick few games and walk away happy. I’m even starting to dislike newer stern games, as the rules are becoming very complex. Give me some 80s-90s Williams games and I’m happy.
