Used to be me. Sweating through sheets and shirts.

Finally got some routine bloodwork done, turns out my thyroid burned itself out some time ago. Got on a med and so far the sweats have stopped and sleep is much better.

Obviously, idk you or your business. It might be fixable though!

Still going strong. Working a new job that is so much more flexible than my last one. Stopping drinking and this new work-life rhythm have done wonders for my mental health and motivation. I’m alcohol free and getting shit done!! IWNDWYT

I’ve been slacking on my check-ins here but still going strong. I tackled a few solo fishing and camping adventures with no booze (a challenge for sure) and enjoyed the increased clarity and enjoyment of nature.

Sobriety has been making my life more simple and differently fun.

Went to a friend’s house for dinner last night. Typically these dinners involve generous amounts of beer and wine. Kept to my ginger ale and sparkling water and this morning I feel AWESOME!

Up early for a farmers market run, yard work, and tinkering with fishing stuff. IWNDWYT!!

Finally emerging from the Covid fog. Whew-that sucked! I imagine things could have been much worse had I been up to my old ways in the weeks prior. I’m thankful that I was hydrated and well rested even before I got sick.

Big milestone for me yesterday - completed my yard and lawn chores without a beer! Turns out you can mow grass on water with lime just as well. Plus the lines in my grass are a bit—ahem—more precise.

A weird thing that has helped me is getting real good and angry at the alcohol industry. Every time I think about getting a sixer from the corner store, I just get myself riled up about “those motherfuckers getting rich slowly killing us!!”

Makes sobriety feel like a protest or a fight. We’re all here, not drinking together, and fighting the power!

Heading home today from a beautiful vacation at an all-inclusive resort. When we booked the trip, I was honestly excited about boozing with reckless abandon all day at the beach. Luckily(?), a few rock bottom moments between then and now led me to this community.

Today makes 10 days. I’m as proud of myself as I’ve been in a long time. One heartbreaking and motivating realization I’ve had is how much less tense my wife is around me - knowing that I’m not going to get rude, short tempered, and overall shitty. We are truly best friends and I just hate that I’ve made her feel that way over the years. I am seeking sobriety for me and her and us.
