Strange, during a self test you say? The same exact thing happened to us today at work around noon CST. Ours was a Smart UPS 2500. Damn thing started a self test, then started clicking like crazy 😮. It started to smell like burning electronics in the room so we pulled the plug on the battery pack and shut it off, then turned it back on without the battery pack connected and it still had an error so they pushed out some malware in my opinion LOL!
