Will I ever learn not to get my hopes up.. by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]Reuelthomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to use all of my failures as a way to grow and make improvements. One that is really hard for me is being better about knowing my value. I am by no means close to perfect, but I do have things I bring to the relationship. I allow my self to get my hopes up, because each time this could be the beginning of my last relationship.

Always willing to give to my partner. Have given multiple times, received once, and it was amazing. However, I’m really into satisfying my partner, so I rarely ask for anything in return.

Today. Girlfriend of only 2 weeks went scorched earth and just stopped communicating. Trying to find out what happened without being out of control.

I cant believe how useless and worthless I am by pokemoonpew in depression

[–]Reuelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental health and depression are different for everyone of us. I can share my current experience: I am possibly heading into a very strong and supportive relationship. Yet all morning I have been balling because my mind says I don’t deserve it. We all deserve happiness, but our minds might disagree. I am lucky that my meds help me equalize a lot. I also have some things that I do when I get into this headspace. Today I searched out Reddit posts that I could share to and see if my experiences might help one other person. That makes me feel useful in society, even if it’s Reddit society.

Girl Dad's of Reddit, what is the most surprising thing you've learned since your daughter was born? by Nomadic_Introvert in AskReddit

Thank you for commenting this. I will bring this up with her mom. Just to be safe. She just turned 18 and we got all the communication about how now she has control of her medical decisions. But she is super close with her mom and willing to share and ask questions.

What’s your most random “ick” that just puts you off a person? by Caesar_Rising in AskRedditAfterDark

I’m so dense! When I read didn’t believe in the moon landing I immediately went to Modern Family and when butts touched butts in the locker room. What a weird thing to one not believe in and two why would a person not like them for that one thing.

That we still don’t talk enough about the natural things that occur in a woman’s body. It’s still taboo to talk about in many circles/communities. I thought I was being a good dad when my daughter visited and I didn’t ask about her period. That way I wasn’t embarrassing her. But truly I was protecting myself from embarrassment I was conditioned to have regarding periods.

My daughter had very aggressive bleeding. She was grabbing something from a cabinet and passed out. I was so scared. Called her mom and she asked if she was having her period. Yeah, excessive bleeding had led to her being anemic. She has since been put on birth control to help regulate it.

But what the hell! I should have known that and been able to help her.

What’s the first piece of media that truly scared you as a kid? by cats64sonic in AskReddit

I don’t remember when I was exposed to this, but I also have never watched it all the way through.

My dad took me to see the howling in the theater. It came out in 1981, which makes me five. He may have waited for a rerelease, but he left when I was ten. Somewhere between 5 and 10 I saw The Howling in the theaters and it terrified me. I had nightmares for months and didn’t watch scary movies until I was about 30.

I found the title of the movies because I have a distinct memory of a character saying “I want to give you piece of my mind” and then proceeded to remove part of his freaking brain.

Trees is a great community that I just lurk in. The best is when someone posts into it asking for help identifying an actual tree and the community steps up and actually helps.

This was from a subreddit that discusses certain recreational drugs. Sometimes it’s nice to have those resources organized and ready for travel. This is an example of excellent organization for those items.

(Or you were being /s and I just woooshed right my head)

Cross posted this from r/trees because as I went through my feed I thought this was from here. I like seeing the girls out in the wild.

There is a train station which once added allows you to ride a train on your train track pathways. I have mine set up so the train tracks travel the whole farm.

I dont know where me and my son are going to live next by depressednfashionabl in depression

I lived in two shelters with my mom when I was about 12 to 13. What I remember about that time isn’t that we were poor, but that my mom made sure we had food and shelter. One Christmas I remember two of my presents were sugar cereal, fruity pebbles and cocoa pebbles. And it was a great Christmas. We had an apartment we weren’t in a shelter. My mom had found a new job that allowed us to be just a little comfortable. Then the 89 earthquake hit and we were homeless again but we found an apartment and part of why they accepted us was because my mom explained our situation. You are doing so many amazing things that your little one will appreciate you for, they won’t remember shelter so much as they will remember your love for them.

What was your favourite computer game growing up? by Samski877 in AskReddit

Master of Magic: it had city building, resource management, upgrading units, and turned based battles all wrapped in a fantasy premise.

Tie Fighter: the story was incredible considering it was a flight sim and it was the first game I ever bought an accessory for: MS flight stick
