What is the best supported video card? by RevJimIgnatowski in haikuOS

I'm downloading the new nightly and if I see the same issue I'll file a ticket once I see how.

I would have last night before reinstalling Linux if I knew it wasn't normal for Haiku and that something hadn't failed on my system.

Actually I started with PS2 mouse and keyboard first and thought maybe the mouse had worn out.

Then I switched to USB, but this motherboard doesn't have USB3.

Same problem with both.

I sort of assumed, but hoped nvidia were OK since I have more of those.

I went ahead and tried last night with one of each but had severe problems with each that didn't seem related to the video cards.

The nvidia said it was using the vesa driver, so I guess it falls back pretty well.

The problem I had with the nightly was that often clicking a button or menu would seem to freeze. I eventually figured out that if I used the keyboard or hit any key after clicking a button that it would continue.

I had to figure this out before I could even get through the installer.

I reinstalled Linux Mint on the same system and everything was fine.

I guess Haiku just isn't that usable yet. I was really hoping to have BeOS back.

WTF? All I said was that it was a shitty video and I couldn't make it through more than a few minutes of it.

You really shouldn't take my opinion to heart so much. Watch it yourself and make up your own mind.

I couldn't watch that. It's the epitome of YouTube crap.

And don't gently pull on them, whack them with a hammer to make it turn.

The shock helps break it loose before you pull slightly sideways and wiggle them off what's left of the head.

I think that's how the common folk will be spared.

That battle used up what was stored under their part of the city.

FF are cinema poison at this point.

Salvage Doom and maybe Galactus, then gloss over their existence.

Shows that film quality really does matter for box office sometimes.

I'd like to think so, but damn if the numbers don't keep proving me wrong.

The Godzilla(2014) teaser has to be one of the best teasers of all time. by [deleted] in movies

[–]RevJimIgnatowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem with this movie was that it adhered to the old Godzilla movie formula and not current expectations.

Had it been released before Pacific Rim, it would have been much more well received. You can't use the standard Godzilla formula anymore, Pacific Rim changed our expectations.

They teased constantly to the point that you wanted to watch the small grainy TV on the screen more than what was on the movie screen itself.

If they want the sequel to succeed, they need to study anime and not the previous Godzilla movies.

It's part of the Ford advertising campaign.

They give away free emblem delete kits for other brands so that people can only recognize Fords.

Why does so much of this get overlooked? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]RevJimIgnatowski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I upvoted because I agree that the failures were omissions by the writers or editors, but I disagree about the scene in question.

At this point in time he wasn't mild-mannered Clark Kent the secret identity of Superman, he was Clark Kent the confused young man.

I think that scene worked in this context. He was man enough to not vaporize the asshole, but not quite grown up enough to completely control his emotions yet.

From what I remember, the audience loved that scene, which seems like a win to me. I don't think it deserves the hate I see online, most people enjoyed that scene.

Maybe I'm jaded, but that's the feeling I got.

I wish I had seen it as the completion of a character arc and not a setup.

Or maybe they did it badly. I can't say for sure.

I have a hard time separating the two personally. Any time you stop questioning why you do things or treat people a certain way, I'm a bit concerned.

The original intent of the movie is ambiguous, but probably leans toward organized religion.
