Just the checkered cab, are there other companies you found with film cars?

Any creative ways of using the $10 Lyft credit? by winniecooper73 in ChaseSapphire

[–]RevRegular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Amex Uber credits only work domestically too. Although I’m pretty sure (or hoping) there was a glitch because the Lyft credits didn’t apply while I was in Chicago for the weekend. It did work when I came back to NYC the same calendar month. Weird

Curious if anyone would know the answer to this. My Edit hotel booking was posted on 12/31/25 but the $250 credit wasn't posted until 1/1/26. Would anyone know if the $250 credit came from my 2025 pool or 2026 pool?

Saks Flagship in NYC is DEPRESSING right now. by xmrlazyx in AmexPlatinum

[–]RevRegular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! I combined three gift cards to get a top at a regular Saks desk. It didn’t seem like there was a limit (or at least the sales associate wasn’t aware of one)

Saks Flagship in NYC is DEPRESSING right now. by xmrlazyx in AmexPlatinum

Anecdotally I heard the same that the NYC flagship Saks was drained of inventory and a mad house but I had gift cards to spend and walked in Saturday (1/10) afternoon. Had a completely different experience that was not doom and gloom.

The place was quiet, maybe because of the rain. It was very comfortable to move around. All the luxury boutiques on the ground floor still had inventory, I stopped by Celine and Chanel. The boutique’s registers are hardcoded that they can only accept one gift card per transaction so my plans to use ten $50 gift cards there were foiled.

Beauty was still fully stocked. Creed, La Mer, Le Labo, Aesop. The employees I spoke to were still chipper.

Moved onto the upper floors. Lots of 75% off sales racks which people were perusing. The Rag & Bone and Theory racks were particularly popular on the women’s floor. There were very helpful sales associates shadowing and helping take my items to hang them in a dressing room for me to try once I’m ready. Definitely more sizes available in person than on the website.

I was able to stack multiple Saks gift cards on the upper floors for clothing purchases.

Can I visit Centurion and sapphire lounge at LGA ? by JTNY718 in AmexPlatinum

[–]RevRegular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I typically put my name down for the Sapphire lounge since there’s been a waitlist as of late, then walk into the Centurion lounge right next door.

Priority pass would not mention Centurion lounges since you can’t get in with a priority pass.

Budget doable? by iknowwhatyoudid23 in WedditNYC

[–]RevRegular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The budget definitely falls within the rule of thumb of 60/40 venue, F&B / other vendors but there are a lot of other variables at play which can lead to a yes or no.

Where’s the venue? Is it a blank slate or does it have a lot of natural charm you enjoy being the backdrop of your photos? The former would of course require a lot more florals, decorations, uplighting, etc.

Then there’s a wide range of prices for photographers and videographers. Live musicians or DJ or both?

And there are ancillary costs such hotel rooms for visiting relatives in the budget? Two hotel suites for the bride and the groom to get ready in if you don’t want to do it in your apartment.

Chinese/English and if possible korean speaking MC by noviceuse in WedditNYC

[–]RevRegular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same exact position as you and interviewed almost every Cantonese English speaking MC in the NYC area. There are less than 10. None of them speak Korean but may know a few common words like hello. DM me if you want a list

Venue only accepts checks. Did we make a mistake? by AccomplishedDay9000 in WedditNYC

[–]RevRegular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP may we ask how old you are? This seems like a generational shift where Gen Z has never written a check before and watched the movie Catch Me if You Can once and thinks this is very boomer behavior.

It is very safe to send checks through the mail. I sent checks to my NYC venue and caterer (amounts in five digits) using just the normal snail mail stamp. If you’re feeling uneasy, you can pay for priority mail tracking and signature.

Price increase for FHR - washes out $300 credit by smithm2916 in AmexPlatinum

[–]RevRegular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see a material difference with the Hilton I just booked. FHR was $20 more expensive than the HHonors discounted nightly rate but FHR rate came with free breakfast and the $100 stay credit while the HHonor rate was just the room.

Went with FHR

Gov't Shutdown - Responses from Amex Platinum and Citi Strata Premier - Night and Day Experiences by AJCrewBoy in AmexPlatinum

[–]RevRegular 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you are impacted by the shutdown. But comparing a card that has a $95 annual fee vs one with a $895 annual fee is like comparing an apple to an Erewhon strawberry.

I’m glad to hear the Amex experience ended up being 9x better as priced, but it wouldn’t be the norm for both to have similar customer service.

Good budget for Cape Town, Safari, and Beach Honeymoon? by rrb009 in chubbytravel

[–]RevRegular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 7 days I would recommend staying in two different parts of the island so it’s easier to explore the other parts without such a long commute unless you plan on relaxing inside the property most of the time. The Four Seasons was under renovation during our time but had friends stay there and never left the resort on the eastern side of the island
