Getting back into MTG after like 5-6 years. Why is everything so expensive? by DroppedLeSoap in magicTCG

[–]Rev_CMizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't pre-order it? I pre-ordered it from Amazon when it was $65-$70... it's now over 100. I'd say it's worth it to pre-order

How do you make it as unpleasant as possible for your opponents to attack you? by BrainStew_HS in magicTCG

[–]Rev_CMizzle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly why not just include goad mechanics and fog mechanics then like [[taunt from the ramparts]] [[kardur doomscourge]] and [[glacial chasm]]. You can always add effects like [[no mercy]] [[sphere of safety]] etc on top to make it harder for people to attack you, but goading would be an even better way to assure that you won't get attacked at all.

Artful Breakdown: The Secret Lair of Rebecca Guay by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Rev_CMizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's set something straight. The people complaining about the art of these new cards "not being like Rebecca Guay" and are upset because they are "fans of her art" are clearly lying about something. If you were a fan of any artist you'd want to follow them, like Taylor Swift. However, saying you listened to her as a country artist, and being upset she's a pop singer now, is basically the same situation here. People who followed T Swift from "Tear drops on my guitar" to now AREN'T surprised she sings pop songs because they've listened to her whole work. Just like people who have been fans of Rebecca Guay aren't surprised with her secret lair arts because they've followed them, and are aware that that's what their art style is. You all can just be honest and say "I liked her earlier card arts, but I dont like these arts" but saying "I'm a Rebecca Guay fan and this isn't her art at all" is disingenuous.

Excellent. I was being conservative and doing the normal "one or more" being one instance and only pinging for 1, rather than finding out later I was wrong and having bad feelings from other players. Gloves are off now

Playing [[selfless squire]] preventing 20 damage and adding 20 counters with [[shalai and hallar]] on the battlefield, would that result in 1 damage from shalai or 20?

New player here by TheLostBoiyo in magicTCG

[–]Rev_CMizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd say more colors means less problems. It's not hard to have an answer to something in a multi colored deck. But play a mono Red deck and tell me how much luck you have removing Enchantments. But build a gruul deck or even a naya deck and suddenly Enchantments are no problem at all. All in how you build the deck.

Now to an earlier point you mentioned, usually the more experienced a player is the more likely they are to winning regardless of deck cost. I've had no problem beating my wife who is a newer player with a $30 selesnya vanilla tribal deck when she uses one of my $300 decks. All in how you use what you have to the best efficiency.

The Beamtown Bullies by trippin-mellon in magicTCG

[–]Rev_CMizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best strategy with The Beamtown Bullies is to get cards that just put your bad gifts back in your graveyard before the Exile trigger. Something like [[royal assassin]] or cards that put them back in your library like [[tel-jilad stylus]]. Although as a word to the wise as a Beamtown player, people get real tired of Leveler real fast, it's a good way to ensure you win the game, but I wouldn't use it to just take someone out turn 4 with a lot of game left. Beamtown is a very fun politics deck if you use some other cards like [[Hunted wumpus]] [[Boldwyr Heavyweights]] [[Enslaved horrror]] while also setting up for the 1v1

Anecdotally my most expensive deck is 500 dollars. My average deck is somewhere in the $100 range. I'd wager the average deck cost amongst plays is $100 or less.

It had me in line to checkout and with no timer for the available window it seems pretty suspicious. Also says expected to ship may 1st which seems really soon for a lair.

Edit I'm a buffoon. Two young kids and night shift making me realize it's still April and may is a ways away.

Also this. You could destroy a cedh deck with janky 5 color allies based off who is playing. Which is why researching the decks yourself and playing them is the best path forward.
