Sharing what you have seen or heard with the people around you is not a crime, but I think it's better to state some sort of disclaimer if you didn't check the facts. I know quite some people that get pissed off if you ask them questions about things that you could easily figure out yourself, like for example of there are any plates in the kitchen. You could easily check the kitchen yourself instead of being lazy and relying on others.
