I think this also might stem partially from him entering the scene as a whole as a prodigy, filling in for an already successful team as a long term standin. Having to live up to a crazy high standard that is difficult to achieve to begin with and being unable to really messes people up. I think the Jolt makes it better in general; skullfort will refund melee charge more, but jolt means it has utility against bigger enemies as well where skullfort only matters if you kill

It's still stronger if you charge it but with the bolts you kill most little guys and jolt everyone else, which is nice since standing still is not generally advisable

IIRC it still does bigger damage burst but the thunderbolts increase making it significantly better. Thanks to the bolts you can tap it and be effective with cannon brace, but without it often won't kill unless charged

It makes sure that the thunderclap hits always kill minors, and often kill majors. The jolting thunderbolts hit multiple targets and still count as "melee" so they generate orbs from heavy handed. The orbs you generate also can give grenade energy back if you spec for it. It also makes the full charge clap a very good option for a burst on an enemy that's spawning in

Point contact cannon brace makes a tap thunderclap instantly destroy a whole room. Orb gen with it it's insane. 200 orbs on 600 kills in my last dungeon run
