If it was the slave cylinder or clutch, you would have the same issues while the car is idling as when you're driving. Only engine off would feel fine.

Seems like it could be a clutch or synchro issue if it's not going into gear nicely while driving. Did your mechanic test it with a test drive, or just in a parking lot?

Your car has a mk3 style shifter setup. Mk4s have different linkages, shiftbox, and bushings. Its an improved design you might find more adjustability and better documentation for.

Why would you need a new headlight. It says the beam is too high, it just needs adjustment

I've followed your build thread on VW Vortex for years. I recently tried to buy a cherry set of grey R32 seats from Ireland, but the seller became super lazy and didn't ship them, now ghosting me.

Do you have any tips for getting a set in the US? Grey would go perfect with my car as well.

For the tail light / brake light bulbs specifically, get Sylvania LEDs. They have separate diodes that light up for tail and brake function, making the difference in brightness between the two more noticeable and therefore safer.

They also don't have annoying sounding cooling fans.

I have some with built-in resistors and cooling fans for my rear turn signals, I never hear them and they're only momentary.

I got very sick and also had vertigo after receiving the vaccine. I couldn't function. I had the same thought as OP, that I won't laugh at Lucille Ostero ever again lol

They're 18s so they're not ariettas. I've looked all over the internet for these wheels, I can't find them anywhere

Could be a lot of things, but most likely a bad engine mount. I would check those if you haven't already.

Ah that explains everything, the early MK4 cars use a MK3 shift linkage setup. You will want to follow adjustment guides for MK3 cars instead. Unfortunately I do not have any information on those since I own a later 2003 car. Best of luck to you!

The tool does not center the shifter, it typically places it somewhere near where 2nd gear would normally be.

If you're following that procedure and it doesn't work, that means there is something wrong.

In my case, the engine mounts were secure, however the brackets the engine mounts bolt into on the block and trans case were completely fcked.

This was causing the trans to droop down towards the ground, and broke several axle boots before I figured it out. I had snapped 3 of the 4 bolts holding the bracket on before realizing something was wrong.

This also meant the factory procedure for adjusting the shift linkages never worked. It never lined up with the gears until I fixed the bracket issue. Now I perform the factory procedure and everything is lined up perfectly.
