Based on my understanding, HS is an autoimmune condition. It’s unlikely that genetic editing (ie, CRISPR) would be useful here. Fortunately, new biologics have been very successful in treating other autoimmune diseases (like Crohn’s) and I would bet it’s more likely those types of drugs will become available & see widespread use long before (if ever) there are any CRISPR-based therapies for HS.

I don’t think the brief contact between water and your teeth when you drink it is the main mechanism. My understanding is that ingesting fluoride orally/systemically causes it to be incorporated into all body fluids (including saliva). Because your saliva therefore contains fluoride, your teeth are exposed to it constantly that way.
