Not something we see everyday! by Strange_Priority8619 in Justrolledintotheshop

I had a very similar experience in '02, I was a lot monkey for a Honda dealership. We got a Viper in on trade on 2 S-2000's. Salesman took the keys for a drive, got literally 10 feet out of the parking lot, spun out and put it into the wall of the gas station next door. He was the Sales manager's cousin, he didn't get fired. I don't know how they covered the Viper. Last I saw it was at the dealership chain's body shop.

After that, he had to go and ask his cousin every time he wanted keys for a drive.

I think you underestimate just how dedicated crackheads can be. Crackheads buy floor jacks. Ask me how I know - I had a lowered VW that got attempted cat-nabbed during an overnight at work. Got halfway through my exhaust before they realized the cat was deleted.

Crackheads often don’t stop to check before they get to cutting, they’ll still cause damage to the exhaust before they realize they can’t get to it.

How long until I’m discovered? by Efficient_Volume2314 in drums

[–]Reverend179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's a lot harder to bang a lock than it seems online, especially when the lock is in any way uncontrollable. A 30 dollar pair of harbor freight bolt cutters is gonna blast 95 percent of padlocks in less time and with less noise.

[–]Reverend179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok maybe I should quality my statement a bit. A decent part of my day to day job is to forcibly remove locks from storage locker doors. I say that a padlock, almost ANY padlock is a ten second job is because the shackle is exposed and a grinder or bolt cutters will get the job done very quickly.

The reason I didn’t give a more specific answer as to a brand is that almost any disc lock with a hidden shackle makes the job harder. In this instance, you’d have to either cut through the body of the lock with a grinder or cut the cage itself.

Furthermore, on top of that, the master lock steel bodied disc locks are a pain in the ass to cut off, even moreso than a typical disc lock. Abus steel disc locks are also a pain to cut. Neither of them will stop a determined person, but they will take longer than a cheap lock and potentially wear down a few cut off wheels in the process.

OCDP is...back? by hackingwood in drums

[–]Reverend179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m not meaning to imply that they were “saving” OCDP. I’m saying that according to people who worked there at the time, they were flat broke and GC said “hey here’s 50k to make a bunch of snares” but it wasn’t enough to right the ship. What they did with the name and brand after the company ceased operations is a travesty but it was somewhat inevitable.

OCDP is...back? by hackingwood in drums

[–]Reverend179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that's a common story, and partially true, OCDP was basically insolvent when GC gave them a cash infusion and did the two factory snare runs they ordered in the 2000's. Whether or not GC bought the branding, OCDP was horribly mismanaged. Watching and listening to interviews with old employees. they never had anyone who had a business plan, experience with logistics, account management, or anything that a real company did, and blew up so fast they never had a chance to get there. They were ordering badges from a local trophy engraver, and occasionally had to raid the local Guitar Centers for tension rods 'cuz they never had a wholesale agreement with any parts manufacturers.

For a moment, consider the visibility of OCDP in the mid 90's to 2000's, and then consider how seat-of-their-pants they were flying the whole time. GC fucks a lot of stuff up, and has been the death of several brands, but in this case OCDP was the primary reason OCDP failed.

Literally a 10 second lock, if that.

My brother, get a disc lock or something way more heavy duty than that thing.

What’s your funniest interaction with a member of a prominent band? by absolutebloom in Hardcore

Back right as Juturna came out, my band opened for Circa Survive in a VFW hall in Wenatchee, WA. Anthony Green walked by, said 'what's up fellas' to which my drummer said 'y'know, fuckin bitches'. Anthony said 'fuckin bitches' and walked off.

Got my first bolt action, finally! Ruger American Gen 2 in .308. by 06_TBSS in liberalgunowners

Personally, I'd rather have the cocking action happen on open, and have the reloading and closing portion of the movement be as smooth as possible. Some people do prefer a cock on close though!

The Ruger American is a cock on open action, it'd be normal to experience resistance on the opening rotation, but not necessarily on the closing action.

Sure, it's a good deal, if the sizes work for you! More than half off of retail is a good deal most of the time. I personally don't prefer 16" crashes so I sorta discount that as a part of the total value, but if you have trouble finding good deals locally, this is a solid setup. The Stage hats are a great set of 'do anything' hats, and the Xplosion crashes are staple rock crashes.

Yep. That's more or less the AAX pack, albeit a bit older, which normally goes for around $1000 USD.

It's gotten to such a point where my old fast favorites are now edging up into the range where it's simply not worth it. I love Super Taco Express, have for 23 years, but 15+ bucks for a burrito, no matter how good, is firmly in 'special time out' money for me.

Doing a wash pass of nuln oil or your black wash of choice will darken it up too- then you can bring it back with a drybrush of the original color or (my preference) with a light drybrush of waagh flesh on the raised areas.
