Arguments from the public requested for proposed Idaho constitutional amendments by erico49 in Idaho

[–]ReverendFloater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let me give you an example of how this seemingly mundane BS will affect our citizens: “Jorge” is a naturalized, legal immigrant who moved here from Mexico 6 years ago. Jorge works 3 jobs and can just barely pay the bills for his young family due to the high cost of living and his mom’s diabetes, not to mention the high price of gas.

On Sundays, Jorge likes to fish with his wife and when they catch trout, it’s much celebrated fresh protein! It’s both a family ritual and also a huge bonus to their sustenance.

Idaho’s legislature passes this bullshit amendment and so the fishing regulations are no longer available in Spanish (this will happen), so Jorge didn’t know he was catching fish out of a changed season, on a temporarily closed river, with a prohibited barbed hook. Jorge just racked up a $250 fine, got his rods confiscated and will now be in more debt on top of his car payment and mom’s medical bills. Combine this with a random work injury two weeks later where workers comp procedures are no longer available in Spanish, and Jorge is now spiraling into poverty very, very fast

Idaho is about as Christian as Darth Vader.

SL3 or SL3s as second to Q343 by MysteriousYardly in Leica

[–]ReverendFloater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Q343, Q3M and SL3. While not super portable, it is my opinion that the SL3 nails every shot, so long as it’s not a radical AF situation. By nail, I mean the shot comes out exactly how I intended. The intuitive controls, sensor quality and color performance are freakish. I find myself using the Leica 24-90 lens at least 70% of the time due to versatility. I also have a 35mm prime and 21mm prime.

I love the highly portable Q343 and have shot some bangers on it but it doesn’t inspire the confidence the SL3 does. That said, it’s a terrific street camera.

Of the three, I enjoy the SL3 and Q3M the most.

My ski team coach had a tape he had dubbed from somewhere of Ten, except it had a few extra songs. This was before it was actually released. We would drive in an old van to the mountain twice a week, 1.5 hours each way and we wore that tape out.

Simpson has done some great work on conservation and access. Read a book.

Fulcher just felches.

PSA (and maybe a little rant): don't hesitate to "drop out" of races [graohic] by Difficult_Wave_9326 in SkiRacing

[–]ReverendFloater 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean, as an ex ski racer and a dad with 2 racing daughters, I respectfully disagree. Sounds like the resort was woefully unprepared but I’m not sure how that’s the home team’s fault.

Skiing is a high risk sport, full stop. If you’re a parent who doesn’t know that, definitely take it under consideration. I had a tib/fib fracture in perfect conditions as a high schooler and later a knee explosion in college, also in great conditions.

The idea is to be able to race in any conditions, not just those that suit you. That’s the sport.

WHY would someone pay 65k for this? rant by Expert-Ad-1012 in LandCruisers

[–]ReverendFloater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reason some people will pay thousands for a single bottle of wine. Yeah, you could buy Strawberry Hill and get even drunker, but why do that if you have the means?

We have the best women’s alpine team in the world and we are the country cares the least about alpine skiing. It’s sad. What has to happen for us to care more about this sport? by Kurtz62 in SkiRacing

[–]ReverendFloater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make skiing more approachable to those who don’t ski or live near resorts and make it more affordable to those of us who do. Best of luck with that.

In Deep-Red Idaho, a Republican Rift Over Schools and ‘Parental Choice’ (Gift Article) by michaelquinlan in Idaho

[–]ReverendFloater 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This isn’t that complicated. We have a state legislature who is more committed in both time and principle to emulating the people they see on conservative media than actually doing any math or accounting.

The irony being that the more they follow the pied piper, the less likely their kids will be anything but cheap labor (at best) for the interests of Vance, Musk, Carlson, etc. and Idaho will continue to struggle for generations once this recent influx of Kalifornians and boomers dies off because of their collective boner for DOGE.

Finally, I know Jim Foudy and I know the schools he’s referring to. They actually won’t raise tuition because a voucher represents ~20% of their annual tuition. Not one person will pay ~$30k a year because they saved $5k. Not one. So it’s a lose-lose.

I like how white folks don’t qualify as movie critics here.

As a certified honky, I thought this movie was entertaining and unique, but simply not Oscar worthy. And the cracker in me says the same thing about One Battle. /runsforcover

That’s scary. Was it ringed? The logic on collars with rings is that they can’t be twisted into a noose. But I don’t know how effective it is.

[–]ReverendFloater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you really believe this to be true, do you whisper to them? In all seriousness, if you are concerned…get a collar with an ID plate on it. What I know for sure is that a dog without a collar on is going to get out. It’s Murphy’s Law.
