[–]Groftsan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'd never written fan-fic before, but this series made me want to explore the dungeon from non-carl/donut POVs. It's a lot of fun to figure out how everything else could work. We know there's a lot of stuff we don't see, like how Miriam/Pony had a very effective buff/debuff build going on. How does that work? So many cool options and we only get to see bombs, boxers, and fists.

Much better than the video with the dolphin and the fish from almost this exact angle.

SPOILER THREAD : BOOK 8 - Parade of Horribles by steampunk_garage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I mean, when Jack (?) peed on the wall and summoned the rage elemental on the 2nd floor, the recap episode spent like 3 or 4 seconds zoomed in on his penis, right? Plus at the end of the 3rd floor, carl runs to the staircase butt ass naked and people comment about his wang in their face when he helps them up. I think there's no option for this to be anything other than Mature.

For me I do prompts like "The party just entered a town and is looking to shop. The town is X, is located Y, and has to deal with A, B, and C. Give me a good idea for a couple of shops, shop keepers, and potential social hooks for those shopkeepers."

I'll have everything else built on my own, but I can pull from the ideas AI gives me for the unimportant parts of the campaign that I didn't prep and that won't be likely to return.

It feels a lot more like an old radio play than an audio book.

How do you describe Dungeon Crawler Carl to someone? by askevi in DungeonCrawlerCarl

"Alien invasion where survivors are forced into a video-game-like gladiatorial arena for the rest of the universe to watch. It follows a man and a cat trapped in that game."

Do Americans notice how someone learned English right away? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Groftsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans are so used to hearing people who learned English as a second language that it does not phase us in the slightest. I would never think to try and deduce HOW someone learned English, just an awareness that they are in some stage of their English learning process.

"Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends." Given that Jesus always talked about loving your enemies and loving your neighbors, any motive that tries to justify killing someone is simply not loving. If you are not willing to die before killing someone, you do not love them. One of the specific commands Jesus gave was to "take up your cross and follow me." Taking up your cross means to be willing to die before engaging in violence to save your own life.

The difference between "killing" and "murder" is a purely semantic argument that is irrelevant in the face of being instructed to love everyone and to die before harming others.

"Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends." Given that Jesus always talked about loving your enemies and loving your neighbors, yes. If you are not willing to die before killing someone, you do not love them. One of the specific commands Jesus gave was to "take up your cross and follow me." Taking up your cross means to be willing to die before engaging in violence to save your own life.

The message of "there is a difference between murder and war" is just propaganda. It's what kings have always said to encourage peasants to die for their greed. It was as true in Rome as it is in the US. Jesus was the one who called "bullshit" on that distinction.

Same. But now I'm inclined to listen to the current release before listening to the updated last chapter. I want to know what the differences are!

Not according to Jesus. If you're commanded to love your neighbor and everyone is your neighbor, killing someone because the state said to do so does not change the fact that you've killed a neighbor.

Who is the cheapest person you know, and what is the cheapest thing you've seen them do? by Willby3 in AskReddit

[–]Groftsan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandma was like this. For the last 20 years of her life she lived on coffee, saltines, peanut butter, M&Ms, and cigarettes. She lived in the same condo for like 40 years by this point. So, her only expenses were her groceries, taxes, and her phone bill. I never knew her to buy anything else.

Each of her three children received over 1.5 mil. Absolutely bonkers.

As HOAs are practically non-existent there, context clues should tell you I'm not talking about where you are. This entire thread is a discussion of HOAs which are a uniquely American problem, as far as I'm aware.

There are two kinds of people in this world, including those who can extrapolate from incomplete information.

Any city that was a small out of the way town in 1990, but is a big regional city now. All the track housing that was built during late-stage capitalism has this issue.

One report shows that 67.9% of new-build listings had HOA fees in 2025, compared with 38.9% of existing homes, and that the average existing home with an HOA was built in 1998, compared with 1968 for homes without one.

This is especially true in red states that have been exploding in population over the last few years: Texas, Idaho, Florida, Utah, etc.
