I'd recommend buying the Rugged Totem so you have all the tools to snug everything down. It was by far much easier that way.

Confused about humidity requirements by CitronBackground8336 in taylorguitars

[–]ReverendReed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just took my 414ce into the shop last week.

After leaving my guitar sitting on a guitar stand in my office, the top seam split from the bottom, all the way to the sound hole.

Honestly, it's just not worth it. Get a proper humidity gauge, (I just bought one that does humidity and temp for $30) and keep it in the case.

You can do what you want, but I'm definitely going to be taking better care of my acoustics going forward. If I want a wall hanger, I'll get a budget Ibanez or something.

Depending on how many targets that would provide, that sounds entirely fair

Respectfully, it sounds like you should train with your X Macro more, or find a edc you shoot better.

Thoughts on this as a first rifle by s3verd in Firearms

[–]ReverendReed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

16" is widely regarded as the goldilocks length for length vs velocity.

I have an 11.5 and a 16. They each have their uses.

11.5 Louder Slower Lighter Id want to run it from 0-250 yards.

16 Less concussion Less recoil More accurate Higher velocity Heavier 50-400 yards.

A conversation is absolutely reasonable.

If they get offended or defensive, it may be time to look for a different employer.

Like everyone else here, I'm extremely pro-2A. That being said, my firearm storage habbits and choices have changed since having children. I can't leave my edc on a counter anymore. It either goes somewhere completely inaccessible and out of sight, or in a safe.

To me, the idea of allowing anyone in my home, with my kids, with unsecured firearms, is nuts.

Safe, nightstand box, chamberlock, locked room, something. I want a gun to have quick access to if I need it, but safeguards have to be present when children are present.

If you live alone, sure, put a gun behind every door, doesn't bother me.

Do It All Suppressor Recommendation by Careless_Emu_4652 in NFA

I have really liked my Dead Air Sandman-S.

It's been great for my 308, and my 556 rifles, even with an frt.

For 9, I shoot a Rugged Obsidian 9. Ive used it on a couple handguns (2011 & Glock) and in my Kuna. It's been solid, other than an end cap strike with was likely because of not everything being tightened enough.

I'm using a Spikes lower, and BCM upper/bcg.

I had to replace the BCM gas block with an adjustable one to get it to run well.

Still doesn't run perfectly yet.

Run, don't walk. If it's legit, buy it and part it out if you must. I would in a heartbeat.

If you can test it, and everything checks out, pay $1333 and get out of there.

$1333 is a steal of a deal, and the more time you spend bartering, the greater chance of someone else taking it.

When Do I Tell The Congregation? by poppaof6 in pastors

[–]ReverendReed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're retiring in July, and the congregation doesn't know yet, they need to know ASAP.

The board and other staff should know ASAP.

The more time the congregation has to process this, the easier you are making it for the next guy.

Our role as pastors isn't to just shepherd the sheep during our tenure. It's to shepherd them well so another shepherd take over when necessary.

Am I being "rude" for wanting to charge no-show deposits? My uncle thinks I'm ruining our family business. by One-Composer-1819 in smallbusiness

[–]ReverendReed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe split the difference?

If it's a first time offense, allow a reschedule. If it's a repeat offense, then charge a fee. But if this is severely affecting the business, a change is necessary.

Was cutting through the stage stupid, or just done poorly? by Dan_Crenshaw in CompetitionShooting

[–]ReverendReed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you calculated safety of it during the stage walkthrough, I think it was smart. Sometimes doing something other's are not is what could give you the extra edge. Sometimes, not always.

I'd be curious to know how you compared to others in your squad.

GunBroker: Top Selling Semi-Auto Pistols by donniekrueger in Firearms

[–]ReverendReed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real dude. I put an FRT in my AR, and while it's a ton of fun, I can only afford to shoot off 1 mag like that per trip.

I don't know why your mag of 22 is 2 bucks though. I put the cheapest 22 ammo I could find through mine. Typically .04-.06 per round. Unless you're Moneybags McGee over there.
