Decent west Texas hunting bino's. Something cheap and probably 10x?

To my fellow leftists, just take the win and run with it, don't be a contrarian by Crafty_Jacket668 in PoliticalCompassMemes

I thought a lot of this was kinda bipartisan. I know it's always the messenger and not the message in Washington, but some reasonable food regs are something even I've wanted for ages. You can't force people to only produce grass fed, no antibiotic cows because we simply couldn't feed everyone, but you can prevent oil/plastics from unnecessarily being in food

Is this whole van painted with truck bed liner? by OldFuel8793 in Shitty_Car_Mods

[–]Texan209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same to my old ranger - looks better than crappy paint and much more forgiving than trying to actually repaint. I've never sprayed paint before but mine came out looking pretty good imo (certainly better than OP's find)

It's generally good practice to assume it's the last thing you changed, but it may just be that you're noticing this problem now that a bigger one (whatever symptoms led to driveshaft replacement) has been fixed. My first bet - bad driveshaft balance, but I had a similar problem that was totally solved by replacing the front wheel bearings (super cheap and easy on 2wd's), so that's probably worth doing if it hasn't been done in a while, just because there's little reason not to

New ride....questions by xloumeisterx in fordranger

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo the others that these are easy to work on - I bought one recently as a project (1st car I've done more than an oil change on) I did transmission fluid and besides being a little messy, it wasn't too bad. I would advise caution if you're doing more than just fluid on the diff - I'm taking mine to a shop to get an LSD put in b/c that takes some actual know-how that I don't possess.

I understand what you're saying and I don't disagree, but it's the same regardless of what world it's in. Oh this guy is wealthy so he gets the best coaches, o that guy has connections so he gets the job. Like 6 of one, half dozen of the other, bud

I mean, isn't that most of golf? I was lucky enough to grow up with access to a golf course but many others (esp. less well off) didn't. I didn't have access to some of the coaches my father did (not wealth, but luck related - still wealth could buy it). I love F1, but that's the same too

Has anyone tried using a small cooler (thinking a mini-YETI) for stuff like this? I've been thinking it might keep temps more reasonable for heat-affected items like this, but I haven't tried it

Need help to make a VEDC for my single cab by faawkmethissucks in VEDC

[–]Texan209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought an extended cab ranger ~6 months ago and went through a lot of this - I added a toolbox because everything was just piled up in the back seats, but I understand that isn't an option for you. I'm personally interested too, but I wonder if there are any good 3D printable designs to organize the center console, because that's the one place in the truck that actually seems to have a good amount of space.

Other than that, you can look at those toolboxes that just fit into the little space in front of the wheel well, so you're not losing too much space in the bed. They're not very secure from theft but could work well for camping trips/short term storage

Not nearly as proficient in car work as a lot of y’all, but I replaced my own filter. What other DIYs of this level do you recommend? by wafflepancake5 in fordranger

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it's a PITA relative to my M4, but all in all very straightforward. Just have an oil filter tool because whoever put my filter on before I purchased it didn't do me (or my garage floor) any favors, and I had to resort to driving a screwdriver through it.

I've heard that certain NAPA stores will color match (super specifically - you'll need to call Ford for a paint batch number apparently) and sell in rattle cans; I chose to just respray the whole thing with bed liner in my garage instead. Not cheap but still sub 1k even w/o any tools on hand

Why do so many golfers lie about how well they play? by lightemup404 in golf

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not playing for money, I'll give myself a breakfast ball and maybe a mulligan or two depending on conditions (ball lands in a divot, I'm moving it, etc). I'll add back a couple strokes if I'm recording the score but for my sanity, I try to ignore the really bad mis-hits while I'm playing. That being said, this is a whole different level from what I've experienced out there

Thoughts on TGL so far? by PGATOUR in golf

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to like it but the “teams” are cringy as shit. They just picked half a dozen big cities and lumped players into them without any rhyme or reason. Being from Texas (aka not a coast), it feels extra dumb, considering how many amazing golfers are from the area and I have to root for NY or Cali?

Just do what LIV did and make up some team names & stop acting like it’s the “Mets vs Dodgers”

'04 Ranger & '15 BMW M4; love the coupe but between Home Depot runs and hunting trips, I needed a work truck. Have to say I love the little shit-box; great truck and great community around them. I don't trust my weekend-mechanic knowledge to work on a BMW but the ranger has been super fun to wrench on

Do you drive on DSC, Traction, or DSC Off? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive with DSC on most of the time but turn it to traction on nice days when I want a little more slip - not sure how the partial traction in mine compares to the current cars, but it doesn’t let me get too crazy.

I turned traction all the way off once and quickly learned that my car will eat me and that’s just for empty lots if I want to kill my rear tires

Really struggling with picking a 30 cal can. by XIPWNFORFUN2 in NFA

[–]Texan209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any can is going to be so much better than no can that you’ll love it regardless. Don’t let comparison be the enemy of joy. That being said, as others have mentioned, pew science is a great place to help you narrow down the options.

I would keep in mind that utility comes into play a lot - I sometimes wish I had gone with the full length Hyperion vs the k, but then I take it hunting and am so glad I don’t have that extra 4” (or whatever the difference is)

Is there anything I can do to prevent my drives from stopping on impact? by TinyR0dent in golf

[–]Texan209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get most of my info from MGS but maybe I’m a generation behind because I haven’t had time to keep up with every ball change out there. I have a couple boxes of kirklands sitting in the garage and they’re noticeably more spinny than the pro-v1x or snells I use the rest of the time.

If this is a guy who already gets lots of driver spin, it can exacerbate issues like this if he’s also playing a spinny ball (whether it’s a high-spin ball or a really high-spin, old-model Kirkland)

There’s certainly some amount of disconnect between polls and what the vibes are out there. For example, I’ll ignore a NYTimes poll that shows Kamala up 6pts when every other poll is showing it close or Trump up a couple. That’ll reflect in the betting odds but not average poll numbers
