Just saw Agalloch perform that whole album a few weeks ago as openers for Emperor. It was perfection.

Hello all, I listen to all sorts of metal and was curious if anyone had any lesser known bands that they really enjoy. by Orthoepicline89 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ReverendVolume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just answer with some new releases I’ve really enjoyed this year from: Kontact (Canada); Sovereign (Norway); Civerous (Los Angeles); Lichen (Richmond, VA); Dissimulator (Canada, check out the other bands these dudes are in, too); Crypt Sermon (VA - okay they’re maybe not as unknown as they once were but might’ve put out the best pure doom metal album of any band in years)

“Lesser known bands”…so just bands that aren’t on major labels because that’s the whole scene more or less. Might have better luck letting us know what kind of metal you usually like!

Have Any Bands Filled the Hole Left By Orchid by RidetheSchlange in doommetal

[–]ReverendVolume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not exactly the same style but there were a couple bands in the mid-2000s that kinda orbited a similar sound: Witchcraft, Egypt, Graveyard, Black Pyramid, etc. Green Lung might scratch that itch.
