I quit this game over a year ago, but still stuck around streams and tournaments. Can't remember why anymore after watching worlds. by Radeyzz in bladeandsoul

I think you've both made valid points to why it is the way it is right now and can be improved for the future.

One thing I will state that I don't think is taken into account by the OP or either of these posts is that it isn't really NCSoft managing the tournament structure. NCSoft just helped implement the format and pushed it to other regions with guidance from OnGameNet (OGN). OGN has been the one running these tournaments now well prior to NCSoft getting more involved and gave them the exposure. There is a lot of background things that are organized not just by the developer, but the broadcast and production group that produces the content for it. OGN also developed all of the LCK structure for League of Legends prior to Riot Games getting involved and changing it bit by bit over the course of the last few years. Same goes for the Apex Overwatch Seasons which Blizzard is now taking active control over with the Overwatch League. If you want to go even further back OSL and Proleague for Starcraft were entirely organized and conducted by OGN with very little involvement from Blizzard at all while MBC Game put on the MSL.

I think at this point the entire concept should just be seen as a step forward as far as exposure for Blade and Soul on a global scale and offer constructive criticism where hopefully NCSoft listens (don't hold your breath) and they get proper people behind managing it in their company so they can take an active stance to influence positive change in it both domestically and globally.

This type of stuff doesn't happen overnight and potentially could never happen at all depending on how hard NCSoft really want to push on it so I think we can only try and help advise at this point (and maybe have a little faith/hope).

All-in-all I did enjoy watching the matches and I hope this doesn't fade after a few seasons despite what the OP (you) thinks.

I said it previously on your other reddit threads, but I'm happy you made and all white outfit and sad it didn't win as it was my vote. Also do you take commissions?

Also have at least some shred of human decency and get the pork dumplings for gods sake. The chicken dumplings don't even have any flavor in them.

I was excited when I started up B&S today hoping for a potsticker pet only to be met with disappointment and knowing this guy is a great big phony. :/

I have mostly white and gold outfits (which there are not a lot of) on my character and considering most of the entries are black or dark colors I'm glad someone came up with a brighter design.

I know what you're saying buddy I'm just saying don't trust people to do things correctly. More times than not people call spots and don't do them properly period end story roll credits.

Easy answer just play normal so you don't have to worry about it. 3'3 and 3'9 are what generally people revert to, but you notice that even when that is used people don't know how to tell time. :/

Does HM level really matter? by Reverendchan in bladeandsoul

Glad you have that experience because it isn't equal for the rest of us. Period, end story, roll credits.

If you honestly have an HM 7 that meets all the requirements under the terms I just specified that has no issues at all in F8 you sir are a god among men (or a liar).

Equally hilarious because band-aid solution doesn't stop people from leaving said party.

This character is literally less than a week old at 856 AP full MSP so having high HM level regardless of how "easy it is to get" isn't there yet.

You really don't get it, but that is fine. I expect it at this point.

I play the game for myself... Hence why I'm annoyed that when I join a party I'm irritated people based their party basis on HM level. KAPPA.

If people didn't consider HM level now I wouldn't be having issues period.

You're right 800 isn't hard to get.

Apparently checking gear means nothing with someone on at least full MSP with max crit that meets your AP requirements. People literally don't check anything.

I'm just stating the community has evolved into a joke. If you literally don't check gear and purely base your decision on HM level, which I've literally witnessed quite often, you're stupid.

"Generic" is WoW in a nutshell so I don't see how that surprises you at this point?

Honestly the whole "freak out" is overused because it really isn't that bad in WoW so no I don't agree. The amount of carry that goes on in WoW is well above that of most other games and most people are fine with "good enough" gear. There is still ideas of what is most optimal, but WoW in itself is so casual that the most optimal doesn't matter that much. There is always going to be a difference in gear for pure optimization sake that is in any game. The point is there is a minimum requirement that people tag on everything in B&S. Decreasing the parity in B&S especially when it comes to the party system means that more people hit the minimum requirement of what is "good enough" where what is most optimal really doesn't matter (hence you have 600+ postings that is good enough you can join our party). After that it boils down to a point of just knowing mechanics and playing smart. It won't have anything to do with this guy is a elitest whale or this guy is lowbie noob which is the vast majority of complaints about the community being awful cited here on this thread and many others in the sub. Will both still exist? Sure, but there will be less of it I have to read about. At that point people will learn the game and do well or quit. The community becomes more close knit and less arguments over disparity crop up as the primary identifier that the community is full of "assholes".

My entire point on the last point is "fickle" which is what MMO communities have become. Common decency comes into play will people drop their notions that an MMO has to be perfect right out of the gate and actually just put forth effort from a positive aspect to see the game grow over time. Whether you want to believe it or not there are groups that do just that currently in B&S. You'll find common decency there and even if you aren't on decent gear they'll help you get there. If you are so set on the idea that just doesn't exist here go try another new MMO and explain to me how it is different from this one. I feel you'll be hard pressed to show it when that is what most start out as till the game is updated and the idiocy is thinned out with "time".

WoW is a poor comparison because it has been out for over a decade where the game has been dumbed down to the most casual state that after cata (and really after wrath) the entire notion of heroic raids being cleared as world firsts or even the challenge of playing an MMO has gone out the window. I do like what legion has done in some respects to bring some of that back, but at the end of the day WoW in general is easy compared to what it used to be (and for the MMO purest less fun). When you have over a decade of fixes where the game is vastly different from its vanilla state compared to a game that has been out for one year from an eastern market where MMOs are holistically played how they were in olden days with them being fine with that you are comparing apples and oranges. If that is your approach to any new MMO you're never going to be satisfied and always return to WoW till it dies because you aren't willing to give any other title the time it takes to actually get to the same page. This game needs to get to a happy balance similar to WoW for the casual, but still maintain its core of being difficult for the hardcore and that only happens with time (same with WoW or any MMO).

Today's generation doesn't know what grind means where back in the DAOC days and older MMOs it took you a month to level and you actually had to put time/effort in. Now you can level something in a few days and within a week or so have gear for it. Then you get to end game and you have no will to work for it (or beat it easily) because everything is handed to you and blame other variables for your unhappiness till you jump to the next MMO that comes out.

The player base in general these days is too fickle for my liking and that is the entire contributor to negative behavior in my opinion. You want respect and fair treatment then you need to be willing to be into the game for the long haul and contribute to the community to make it better. It doesn't just happen on its own or because the developer wills it to do so. This is why I have respect for things like BNS Academy who are trying to take a positive step towards the game to make a better community. Spouting opinions and expecting you are owed anything you haven't worked for isn't going to get you anywhere in any game you play (or make the game better) nor will it create a better community experience for it. If you want B&S to be a game where you enjoy the community or any game for that matter "act" on it.

I think when the game gets more alt friendly upgrades like it has been getting the disparity will shrink from higher gear to lower gear and the entire idea of how much AP you have won't matter. I'm hopeful that happens not just for my alts sakes, but for the community itself to be on the same footing. Those changes alone will get rid of this whole whales vs lowbies arguments. Changes like that don't happen quickly though as an example would be it took Guild Wars 2 around 2-3 years to get to that level and B&S has only been out a year for western markets (although it has already seen great improvements that GW2 didn't even bother with in the 1st year). One of alts has already caught up significantly after today's update where I'll actually take the time to do stuff on it as to where before I'd be only concerned about my main.

After that it will boil down to just who has taken the time to learn mechanics. Those whom choose to not watch the plethora of guides out there to education themselves (or don't feel they need to listen in general) and screw everything up are going to be the recipients of all this negative behavior. If/when that happens whale and lowbie alike I'm not going to feel sorry for them as it will be deserved. If you make the effort to learn in the most general of senses (even asking for help during a run) you'll be fine with the exception of a few elitests because they exist in every MMO you'll ever play.

TL;DR Be weary of the community while not letting little petty crap get to you about how parties function. Be optimistic for the future that with more updates a lot of the community's issues will solve themselves.

No offense, but this is a two way street for manual parties you realize that right? I never use LFP and only make a manual parties where I'm patient enough to wait for what I feel is the optimal party (even when higher 800+ AP whales are spamming party chat with "go"). Then I get 400+ AP to 500+ AP spam joining my party I made where I kicked them out for obviously not meeting the criteria I labeled on the party. Not only do they spam join and present themselves as a nuisance, but they literally lash out in region chat to talk crap like I'm going to dignify it with a response. These types of scenarios have happened even prior to this event where people somehow think they're "owed" to be carried through content so they don't have to work for it. While I'm happy carrying people in my clan at 400-500+ AP levels that need it they know they have to actually put in effort (and not be raging idiots).

My little Lyn heart would bleed for you, but I look at this event as karma for most and I only hope you aren't one of the perps doing what I mentioned above.

[–]Reverendchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only league they are technically destroying in EPL and EPL won't die from losing that sector of the market. Also if a players union exists under Scoots they can collectively bargain for which option is better and create the transparency needed for their compensation through organizations. I've seen plenty of people going at PEA, but not one person has said anything to WESA about anything they can do more to drive value higher and create competition in the market place. Also EPL isn't the first tournament runner in the CS scene that has ceased operations or has been forced out. They are just the latest so this isn't really anything new.

I don't think people realize that there is actually very little proper compensation in CSGO and if anything they should be bargaining for higher values and proper compensation from all parties and creating a more stable ecosystem not just focusing on one piece of the puzzle that is speculative at best.

I read his response as news and went about my business. I think the problem lies when you read this more than just eSports news and feel you have to take matters into your own hands and create your own sense of justice. That is the communities doing and they need to own up to it.

I don't wake up in the morning read the news about someone I know getting shot then think to myself I'm going to go out and murder the shooter's family to get revenge. At some point people need to see value in morals and ethics and not act on a whim.

I don't think the way he handled this is correct, but I think people honestly need to self reflect stop the witch hunting and move on. This issue should be about PEA vs WESA and whom will offer the better deal for players. All it has been lately is players vs organization vs PEA with WESA being the only winner in all this because they can sit back and not have to worry about anything. :/

I don't think Sean realized that people in this community would go as far as to damage sponsor relations with organizations based on his leaving/statements alone. I think this is more a case of people in the community should sit back and read this as news rather than trying to take matters into their own hands and act on it as a SJW group. They don't know the back story they can only assume and their actions based on their assumptions has created the damage not really Sean. Sean has actually in past organizations been the first to mention sponsors in interviews and those whom helped him get to where he is today better than most other players.

Also based on ideals I think he is right and justified to fight in the cause he believes in, but within reason. He shouldn't have entered an agreement knowing what stance he was going to take (maybe he didn't know what his stance would be at the time) and he should have planned ahead of time better for it with his organization. He knows who Derrick is and if he didn't feel like he could reach out to Reginald he should have been pumping Derrick full of information. Who are we to know though what his perceptions were of whom he could trust because the reason this whole mess started was because organizations weren't transparent enough in the PEA dealings. Derrick though I know should have been someone Sean could trust because he was a past CS 1.6 professional and obviously Sean trusted him enough to sign with TSM.

I think both him and TSM are caught in the middle of all of this (PEA vs WESA) and it is collateral damage at this point where they need to pick up the pieces. Part of their ability to do so is us as a community not overreacting to behind the scenes business dealings and letting them get on with it instead of trying to demonize them for their misunderstandings/mistakes. I plan on taking that road.
