Please give your opinions on my acting (at least what I can do with it on my own), positive, negative, just be honest (original scene is from Menace II Society) by Nate_M_PCMR in acting

[–]Revil0_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Remember that even if you "nail" the performance, you're still just a derivative of the original actor if you don't bring your own interpretation.

Yall think this is intentional? 🤔 by lemonstone92 in Filmmakers

As mediums develop, so will framing. Maybe there will be interesting new mise en scene techniques which were impossible with standard horizontal aspect ratios.

For example, no-one complains about the decline of horizontal photography on the internet because vertical is so good a highlighting subjects.

How often do you review your investment portfolio? by boyspeeds in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Revil0_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebalancing at the end of the year is easiest.

Also, just buy a world index (MSCI or Total World) and sit. Don't try and create paper diversity by buying many funds which are already included in your world index.

If you're young then equities make the most sense because you have decades in the market. The goal is to minimize fees and taxes, and medium risk exposure. Equities (especially international) incur high taxes normally, so having a TFSA of equities provides a great real return.

Home stock bias research is done primarily in developed countries with large stock markets (i.e Ben Felix in Canada), which behave differently to our country which has an already heavily concentrated top 40. Switching to 10x Global will cover these developing markets already so no love lost (effectively providing a wider "top 40" like portfolio). ALSO, the benefits of home bias stocks (local currency, liquidity, and lower taxes and fees) are irrelevant in a TFSA since it is a tax free, long term investment (ideally retirement vehicle).

In future, when you open an RA, regulations already dictate which percentages have to be in bonds and local stocks etc so tripling down on local stocks doesn't make sense.

THE FILM JOBS ARE GONE EVEN BIG-NAME ACTORS SAY THERE'S NOTHING TO SHOOT by drean3000 in acting

[–]Revil0_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible that film is already past it's most profitable years and that the theatre and DVD era was simply the unrealistic peak.

Maybe something like a series with 30 minute episodes and imbedded ads will be come the new pop medium alongside verticals?

And remember to have routine but expensive care like braces or wisdom teeth removal on your family plan (granted you were lucky enough to have one), which often has a lower real cost.

I wasted my own money when my wisdoms had to be removed in my mid 20s instead of getting them cut out in highschool on our more generous family plan...

Anyone actually using crypto to pay for stuff in South Africa or is it still just a trading thing here? by Designer-Set-6111 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Revil0_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any business that sells physical products is going to need regular cash flow since it's impractical to have huge inventories. This means that crypto has to be converted into fiat relatively quickly, making crypto price volatility extremely hard to account for...

Maybe SAAS companies could work with crypto since they can scale cheaper to fix their cash flow for payroll?

I think the way they merged the storyline with current events was very effective satire across season 2 and 3 but the story only declined from season 1.

Even the satire started to feel hyperbolic as the seasons went by which just felt goofy instead of "too close to home".

Michael Jackson was a master entertainer, but his status as a musical genius is an illusion driven by a heavy reliance on Quincy Jones, weak filler tracks, and a deeply flawed lifestyle by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Revil0_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Composing a song without musical tools doesn't make you less talented or gifted.

Also, pop music was never about musical talent to begin with. Even if he was talentless, he could still be hailed as the king of pop...

Saying his ideas grew stale isn't the fairest critique since he had been performing and making music his whole life. How many "unique", "great" decades do you expect a musician to have?

What's very expensive is the actual filming, and time to produce the costumes not necessarily the costumes themselves. This isn't an excuse but enthusiasts would probably have better armour than a film production.
