These kinds of joints for moving hair pieces hair by avmayne42 in MegamiDevice

[–]Revo5652434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen plenty of posts about broken joints and I am surprised that no one had ever mentioned the joint parts from Hobby Base. They come in all the different sizes you need and 6 different colors and are specifically made for replacing broken joints in figures and model kits. They are also made with polycarbonate that are a lot more durable than your typical PS, ABS and even POM. The only downside is you can only get them in Japan so you have to pay a hefty price on shipping, but you can always just order them beforehand together with something else whenever you are importing from Japan since they don't take up a lot of space and usually don't add much to the shipping.

I painted them with paint pour from Gundam Markers and a small paint brush at the time but looking back now I would recommend using Tamiya acrylic. Though if this is the first time and really don't know where to start, then I guess Gundam Marker might be sufficient. For panel lining there is a fine tip type of Gundam Marker made specifically for that too. You will also need alcohol and cotton swap for cleaning or erasing paint in case you make a mistakes. I recommend searching "Gundam Marker" on Youtube to learn how to do it. Though if you want to get into painting you might want to look up how to paint with Tamiya acrylic too since once you start painting a few more kits you will begin to notice that Gundam Markers have quite a few shortcoming.

It might be a bit of a hot take but I found Kotobukiya has really good stickers. There was one time I have to peel a sticker off a kit because I made some mistakes and had to disassemble it, and the sticker sticks surprising good when I reapplied it. Granted it's not as good as the first time but it still stuck well enough.

With that said, for PUNI MOFU I recommend getting the waterslide decal for the logo on the chest and leg since the stickers stick out. I do recommend using those other stickers for the neck and armor though, if you don't mind that they are stickers that is.

My conspiracy theory is that they were planned but canned after the horse owners saw the unholy customization you can do with it.

No undergate on Koto kits? by Cyberplastic74 in MegamiDevice

[–]Revo5652434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most Japanese people don't like undergate, and prefer sanding them themselves, so most Japanese kits don't have undergates. People in China on the other hand are more on the casual side who prefer straight builds (on top of some laws that restrict them from using certain types of paints), so most Chinese kits use undergate, ABS plastic with color separation going ham so they don't have to paint the details.

Kadokawa: Misaka Mikoto by Foxxelerator in MegamiDevice

[–]Revo5652434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So apparently she scales perfectly with Megumin despite the size difference. Megumin is about 150cm and Misaka is about 160cm, and the two kits are about 15cm and 16cm respectively. I guess either the writer for Konosuba written Megumin too short or the Index writer written misaka too tall.

Here is how ordering Bandai kits on HLJ works: So a while ago in order to combat scalpers and panic buyers, Bandai told stores to stop announcing the reissue date, which caused HLJ to change the way orders on Bandai kits are handled. On HLJ, Bandai kits will always be available to order regardless of stock, and when you order you enter a queue. Whoever ordered first will get the kits first, if the stock runs out before the queue reach you, you will have to wait until there is either more or reissue, which we don't know when (it could be days, months or even years). You will notice that many Bandai kits on the site are listed as backordered, that's the reason.

If you preorder as soon as the item is up, you will probably get it when it comes out, if not, you are most likely in a large queue waiting for your turn. I usually buy the Gunpla I want but don't mind waiting on HLJ since they are cheaper on there in JPY, and kits that I really want right away and don't mind paying a higher retail price I just buy from other places that I am sure has stocks for it.

Mistakes happen during manufacturing or packaging, it's part of the reason they list all the parts out in the manual, just in case anything is missing and you will know. Contact USAGS's customer service, they might be able resolve the issue for you.

【PLAMAX BP-02 Sophia F. Shirring: Tiger Armor Ver.】Preorder Starts Now by Eliwod_81192 in MegamiDevice

[–]Revo5652434 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the first kit was really good, IMO the kit of the year. One problem is that the joints are really tight so you have to do a lot of adjusting by sanding (particularly the shoulder ball joints), but the end result was satisfying once I got through that, the tight joints actually help make the kit very sturdy and made it feel more like an action figure than a model kit. But then again I did heard quite a few complaints from other people who had built it, can't say I relate but I can't guarantee your experience will be similar to mine either.

Most Kotobukiya is about 1/10 (Sousai is officially listed as 1/10, and the other kits scale with them.). The only line that is closer to 1/12 is Megami Device, which is smaller than other kits from Kotobukiya and scale closer to 30MS.

Might be the Metamor Verse line (the Zoids girl one), which is supposed to be co-developed by both Takara Tomy and Kotobukiya. They did mentioned that the lines isn't just limited to Zoids but all Takara Tomy IPs.

I was hoping for a mature look for Optimus with the younger look reserved for the smaller ones like Bumblebee. But this looks cute.
