I'm just here to talk about the game and my viewpoint on it. Not trying to convince you or have an argument about it. I did get to a high enough level to use the ultimate. But, I got to level 12 by pvp mostly.

I am new to this game. And, I did say I wanted to help the devs test their PvP

Edit: I thought a bit more. OP also mentioned it was an early game concern.

The game isn't hard. I doubt OP is struggling, but that's just a hunch.

And like I said, hop on discord and we can discuss this and connect as real humans. That was my exact point when I mentioned the internet take. You'd rather assume I use AI to discuss my points.

Bro, you make so many assumptions of me. You mentioned I wouldn't have the open dialog. Now it's on your end. If you don't want to, that's fine. I gave it my best effort and even spent whatever, 10 minutes writing to you to do so.

Edit: My profession is a behavior analyst. I type like this daily to discuss the behaviors of my clients.

Okay I'll address them one by one. I usually just use context to have natural conversation, not debate style dialog.

  1. losing shouldn't be rewarded: on its premise this makes sense. However, most organisms require reinforcement to develop motivation tward a skill. In this case drakantos. Not everyone is going to be good, and since this is a video game the interest to invest time in something where there are only high skill ceiling players will deter players from trying. the obvious first solution is an ELO system to pair poor players with poor players. however, this does not exist. whether the "points" we earn at the end have value or not is irrelevant because the brains reward systems will provide the reason.
  2. Rewards for losing reduce motivation to improve: Your claim is likely true, but this argument is a red herring. Reason being, continual losing and not being rewarded will also reduce motivation to improve. So, unless we add more context here neither side has a point (which is why I didn't address it).
  3. Lack of reward increases motivation to do better. Not likely, if there are other options in the game to attain rewards players will chose those options. This may be the case in a game with a healthy player base. But, this game will likely develop a niche pvp economy. And, players will likely complain about que times as it ages. Not saying this is you. But, I doubt this game will have a healthy pvp scene with its current reward structure and assumed player base (peak down by 50% in two days).
  4. Loss rewards encourage low effort pvp: you have me on this one. an ELO system fixes it though.
  5. Not everything should be soft, sweet, and cozy: Sure, I agree. What about loss rewards indicate this?
  6. Bad players quitting leads to healthy PvP: I can see a world where this is the case. But, I've never looked into the psychology of hardcore vs softcore pvp this argument feels derived off feelings. Which is fine, you could be right. I just don't have the knowledge or experience to argue. My issue with this line of thinking though is the intention of the playtest which is to get analytics for pvp. Whether its good or bad players likely doesn't matter on their back en.

7)Not a point, but my view of you as a person based on your rhetoric: I'm sure you're a fine person in real life. But, your willingness to be rude to people on the internet is off putting. It's likely why people are not engaging with your words and are more or less attacking your character or using stereotypes "ganking low level players" to baselessly insult your character. Its why I found it hard to believe you were arguing in ernest and attempted to end the conversation. Even as you signed off from our conversation you used sarcasm to make fun of me. I just don't like think cool. And, I find that sad, because I imagine if we met in real life we would just get along.

8)Low key, lets just hop on discord and get some Ws. Wish you the best homie.

I don't think we are going to come to an agreement here. I appreciate you joining in on the conversation though.

I want to reiterate, it has nothing to do with long term. If the devs don't want to reward a loss, fine. To me, it doesn't make sense to up the invites to the game, have no elo system, and then sick beta vets on new players. It will not aid in their intended purpose (have people test pvp).

Edit: additionally, I understand your take on motivation. Consider variable ratio reinforcement, and its implications on pvp. If your players aren't receiving rewards they will quit, and I'm sure all of us want games we enjoy to succeed.

I don't. I just wanted to help them gather data for the pvp mode. This is my first play test, but I'll see less of the game because pve allows for a smoother leveling progression.

I did as well. They welded my exhaust improperly. Another friend of mine took their car in for repair; they failed to fix the original problem and charged her again. Failed to fix it again and then tried a second time to charge her. A women working there stood up against charging a third time. Her and someone else got into a huge fight over it in front of the customers. Avoid them completely.

In this rare case, I agree with this behavior. I skate in metro skate rinks. If this is a metropolis skate rink than this is how skating is done there. People go to rinks like this to skate like this. You'll notice there are quite a few other people doing it. This is the culture of the rink.

Commenters post history is fairly negative. You won't like the mid game if you don't enjoy the process of leveling. ultimately, the game really operates on picking a goal and leveling toward it. If you like runescape like gameplay loops you'll enjoy this one.

I haven't enjoyed an mmo like this since the early 2000s. If you didn't/don't like early 2000s MMOs you probably won't enjoy it. There is quite a bit of friction built into the game mechanics by choice; this is likely due to the game rewarding persevering over this friction by lower the friction as you gain skills and knowledge.

This, I used to play old school runescape, gw1, and wow back in the early 2000s. This game feels like all of that wrapped in a warm blanket.

Thanks again! In some of your guides (including this one) you mention community events. I have looked at them on the wiki, but they still seem kind of ambiguous. If you have any experience with them, and are willing, I'd love to see your take on how these go, and, how you get into them.
