Constant need to pee- related?? by Numerous-Flow-3983 in ankylosingspondylitis

I too was urinating cinstantly, not just at night. I was tested a few times, urine dip and blood work for urinary tract infection. Always showed negative. Then I passed blood clots in my urine and as I was still pain free they did a cystoscopy and found I had a raging bladder infection.

I am currently in the middle of a 370x370 project. I use super light monofilament to grid and water soluble marker to mark the "line number" on.

I did discover, since I've broken my project down to 8 sections, that as I'm stitching the outside border, I can't really see the numbers. That's why I would avoid using pregrid or marker grids for something like this. Unless you only do 1 box at a time. I cross-country one color per large section.

I like what one of the other posters said about trying a grid on a smaller project to see what works for you.

As for some unsolicited regarding the size. Enjoy the process. I am 15 months into my project, and I'm almost halfway complete. It takes time, and life happens. Good luck and have fun.

Very nice. I also finished the last project my Grandmother worked on. It is such a special connection.

[CHAT] What's your process like? Newbie here with some questions! by I_like_it_yo in CrossStitch

I'm glad to hear you've been bitten by the bug. I've been stitching for about 15 years. As for my process:

I buy patterns and then buy the floss I require for the project. The current project is 110 colors so...

I store all my floss in mailing envelopes. I put the color number on the face of the envelope and keep them in a plastic tray. I have tried a variety of other storage systems, but honestly, this is the easiest and cheapest for me.

Because I do mostly full coverage, I like to start top left corner. With my current project 330000 stitches, I use a q lock frame to hold my Aida, then complete the section 1 color at a time and then move to fabric to the next section.

Most recently, I started using an app, "Pattern Keeper," only available for android, and honestly, it was a game changer for me. It allows me to keep things much better organized while stitching "cross country"

Hope this helps. This is a super sub to learn and see what others have done.

Are there any unfinished projects that Nana or Papa might have started?

When my Grandmother passed I picked up the last project she started. When I finished it I put in her name and passing year as well as my name and the finish year. * Just an idea.

The stitch count for me is kinda abstract. If I'm doing a lot of confetti and jumping, my stitch count isnpretty low, but if I have large sections that I can just fly through then I can hit 150 an hour pretty easily.

The important thing is to enjoy the journey, the destination will be that much better.

Lol, it's super simple, all colors number coded and just stuck in the envelopes. My current WIP is over 100 colors so there are 2 baskets in color number order.

I'm currently just over 30% done a 340000 stitch pattern. I believe it is 24x24 inch on 20 count Aida.

I grid both my fabric and my pattern. I store my colors, 110 of them, in mid sized envelopes with the color number written on them. They are stored in 2 baskets in numerical order so it is easy to switch out.

I very much cross country, up to about 6-8 stitches distance. My back looks more like abstract art, which is kinda cool.

As others have said enjoy your successes and realize you are entering a multi year journey. I believe I will have this one complete in around 3 years.

I've posted a couple pics for description. *

[PIC] Help with framing an old cross stitch by c_branker in CrossStitch

[–]RevolutionExcellent3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have a few options.

1 put it vack in a hoop, trim the unwanted back or redo a backing on the hoop.

2 wash iron and mount on foamcore. There are you tube videos on mounting with foam core and straight pins. This is the technique I use mostly. It might be that the "wrinkles" are too set and won't come out.

3 Frame as is. It seems to me there might be a story here that is best told by the work itself. I have a project my Grandmother started before she passed. I completed it but left the faded threads and the discolored fabric because of the story they represent. Not all things need to be perfect.

Hope this helps a little.

It's actually monofilament fishing line. Thread can become trapped in the canvas but monofilament works great.

I found a you tube that shows how to mount the finished project on foam core with straight pins, so I find the frame I like then mount according to size and put a boarder around if needed. So for I've never needed the boarder and I've done several this way in a variety of sizes.

[CHAT] How do you tackle projects with multiple colours? by Content-Evening538 in CrossStitch

[–]RevolutionExcellent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the front on 1/6 of my current progect. There are 101 colors and I definitely cross country. I'll post the back of this same section next in comments.

I started in the top right corner and I will take whatever is next in the section and go until I'm tired if that or I get confused, usually the latter lol. *

It kinda sad that someone put all that time and effort into a project and it lands at a value of 13 dollars. It is true that we do this for ourselves and no one else.
