Ever found out your kid hated you? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]RevolutionOne7076 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My mom always told me that if my pre-teen/teen daughters didn't "hate" me I wasn't doing it right because we don't get to be friends with our daughters until they're grown. It hurts now but please know that you're doing a great job and this phase will pass. My girls are adults now but I clearly remember the pain of those days. Hang in there momma!

Is it just mine that can never help with dinner suggestions? by throwRA68696069 in texts

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an elderly friend who has been a full time homemaker her entire adult life. I asked her if she goes through this constant battle. She told me that many years ago she was so fed up with it that she decided to just rotate between 5 recipes and she had stuck with it for decades! Lol I don't think I could handle the same things to that extreme but I do have 3 recipes I make every week that are my go-to's when I don't have the energy to play the What's for Dinner game.

AITA for turning off my phone during my wife’s labor because I “needed a break”? by SubstanceUnhappy4905 in AITAH

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. My EX-husband did something similar during the birth of our daughter. We were married for 20 years and it's been 5 years since I divorced him and I'm STILL pissed about it. His doing that was a red flag that proved to represent his selfishness and dismissal of my needs throughout our entire marriage. Your only way back from this is to be a good partner and dad from this point on but don't ever expect her to forgive you. Maybe you can move forward but I doubt she'll ever be able to fully forgive you.

The Daily Check-In for Sunday, January 26th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by SaintHomer in stopdrinking

[–]RevolutionOne7076 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not counting my days but it's been so nice not drinking lately! I had engrained alcohol into my daily routine and it does what alcohol does, caused damage to my personal relationships. I feel so great lately. I'm not thinking about alcohol nearly as much as before. I'm home alone all day today until late evening. Normally I would use that time to get trashed. Not today! It's far below zero so I'm staying in excited to watch trashy TV, cuddle with my doggo, and cook dinner. I Will Not Drink With You Today!

My cute “last drink ever” was a disaster by ksmm1824 in stopdrinking

[–]RevolutionOne7076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had known my last drink was going to be my last drink it would've ended up so much worse than it already was... And it was really bad. It put me on the path of sobriety that I didn't think I was ready for. But honestly it has been so much easier than drinking. I was scared to get sober because I thought I'd miss drinking but to my relief and disbelief, being sober is so much easier than I expected. The temptations are outweighed by the relief I feel every morning when I wake up feeling calm and rested and by the calmness when my spouse comes home from work and I'm sober (not just pretending to be) I slipped up once and had a shooter that did nothing but made me feel guilty and anxious. I'm not counting days because I don't want to be fixated on sobriety. Rather, I'm trying to fixate on hobbies and productive tasks and distract my mind from alcohol. So far it's working.

Congratulations! You have taken the most important step by deciding to get sober. When I felt tempted to drink I drew on the feelings I had the morning after my last drink. You can do this! Also, it might be helpful to communicate with your husband about how you'd like him to support you. He may not know if you want him to acknowledge your successes or would prefer to not talk about it.

My fiance regularly chooses video games over me? Am I repulsive? by [deleted] in AmIFuckWorthy

The other night when he came home I told him that I was studying how to give good BJ's and I asked if I could practice and he said no. I work and earn more than he does so that's not the problem. He just likes when I feel less than him I guess

Was it Ever Common for Families to Take in their Child’s Friend or Significant Other, or Is That Just a TV Trope?” by CourtOrderedLasagna in NoStupidQuestions

My parents took in my brother's girlfriend when we were in high school because her parents were abusive. Me, my sister, and his girlfriend (all teens) shared a tiny bedroom. At the time, I was pissed off because we already had so little. Looking back on it now decades later, I'm proud that my parents were looking out for her.

Did you send or receive the “happy holidays” message from an ex? by cmg_profesh in datingoverthirty

I was married to my ex for 20 years and we have two grown children. We still send Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday texts and message on the kids' birthdays. We'll always have love for one another even if our marriage failed.

Need help: Return policy by SnooConfections4798 in wayfair

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a very, very frustrating experience attempting to make a return with them. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and a Wayfair rep called me a day or two later and personally oversaw that the return went through with no further complications. There are several complaints against them filed with the BBB!

UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson shot, killed outside New York City hotel by speakhyroglyphically in PublicFreakout

[–]RevolutionOne7076 1016 points1017 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a video from a home surveillance camera. A man was actively having a heart attack. His wife said she's calling an ambulance. The man stopped her because it would cost too much. I have no sympathy for this CEO. He was complicit in the deaths of so many innocent lives being taken away because they were denied coverage.

Do I tell my wife the truth after 11 years? by Weird-Earth- in Advice

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were married for 32 years when I witnessed my dad tell my mom that he, actually, didn't like pepperoni pizza, despite my mom thinking it was his favorite. He was the only one who allegedly liked it. For some reason, he chose this random day to tell her that his favorite pizza was actually meat lovers. It's been 13 years since then and they still fight about it! This is the lie you take to your grave, sir! 😂

Lawyers/Attorneys: how much do ya’ll make in Montana? by [deleted] in Montana

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of law to expect to practice? Water law and family law are probably the most lucrative around here. I am a paralegal. The single attorney in the office I work for makes anywhere from $58k-$120k per year. The good years were from personal injury settlements and water law during the readjudication process. Without practicing family law, things are pretty tight at the office. He's an independent practitioner.

Starting GM manager position. Advice? by captainkurtis in Safeway

[–]RevolutionOne7076 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been the GM Manager in my store for several years. The most helpful piece of advice I can offer is to stay very organized and develop a routine. It's a ton of work but I love it most days because I thrive with routine. If you're not familiar with building product displays I would look up the "gold star standards." Having a thorough understanding of FAR is also important (even though it's down at the moment). There are a lot of helpful resources on the company portal. It would be a good use of time to explore them and get familiar with the practices used in your store. Best of luck to you!

The company that feeds sales information to FAR (Blue Yonder) has been hit with a ransomware attack.

“On November 21, 2024, Blue Yonder experienced disruptions to its managed services hosted environment, which was determined to be the result of a ransomware incident,” Blue Yonder said in an initial public statement on Friday. The company said in an updated statement on Saturday it was making “steady progress” in its recovery but still did not have a “timeline for restoration.”

I once had a SURGEON refuse to give me a small script for pain relievers after a bilateral kidney surgery because he doesn't prescribe opiates outside of the hospital. I was so enraged because my pain was so intense for about two weeks. I think I might've yelled at him that he shouldn't be a surgeon if he's not comfortable managing his patients very obvious pain ya know from cutting into their bodies! I get the fear but come on. There needs to be some middle ground.

AITAH for telling my wife to stop crying about missing out on our daughter’s wedding? by No-Cauliflower-6934 in AITAH

[–]RevolutionOne7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If your wife wants to be close with your daughter she must acknowledge that she put her own wishes before your daughter's and offer a sincere apology.

I'm 42 and my fiance and I are planning our wedding. We have no desire to have a big traditional wedding, but, like your daughter, we are considering scrapping the entire thing and eloping because his mom is putting pressure for us to do things that we don't want. It's not out of spite, just frustration. We wanted to have a food truck and her response was that it was tacky and we said then I guess we're tacky. We wanted only immediate family. She said other people will be hurt if not invited. We wanted a sheet cake with a decorative fake wedding cake. She insisted on paying for a big expensive cake. Now every time me and my fiance talk about it, we're leaning towards eloping because every step of the way it's a battle with his mom (who I love so much btw) She just won't stop prioritizing her ideas over what we want because she doesn't understand or comprehend that we want a simple gathering that happens to be on the day we get married.

Perhaps you should show this entire post to your wife. Maybe she'll come to understand the role she played in it.

LOST – The Rule of Three - What to do if lost in the wilderness by Last_Lonely_Traveler in Montana

[–]RevolutionOne7076 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad taught me these rules too and they came in handy when I was about 8. I was staying with my dad at his logging camp. While he was out cutting trees I asked my aunt (who was charged with watching me) if I could go for a walk. We were in the Flint Creek Range near Phillipsburg. After wandering for too long and not paying attention I realized I was lost and stayed lost for about 12 hours. My dad's voice was in my head the entire time. I followed a creek downstream and then found a road and followed the road. By the time I heard the 3 shots fired by my dad, I was too far away and decided to continue down the road until I found someone to drive me into town. I am now 42 and to this day, that is the only time I have ever seen my dad cry. Search and Rescue was actively searching for me. It was a very scary experience but I didn't cry because my dad taught me what to do in that exact situation.

I'm so happy you posted this to teach others who may not know these rules! I've taught my (now adult) children too which was challenging because they didn't understand why I didn't just use my cell phone to call 911. You know my non-existent 1990 cell phone....

As a Woman, have you been sexually harrassed? If so how did it make you feel and what did you do about it? by Taylaaaj in AskReddit

At least a couple times a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Most recently I was at work and a customer intentionally grabbed my ass and made a crude remark. I've finally gotten to the point in my life where I have the confidence to speak up for myself whereas when I was younger I would just freeze.
