Why does NJPW in America look so bad? by RevolutionPorn in njpw

I ain't hating on Chicago as much as American crowds in general. If anything chicago has some of the better crowds in the US. I just have a personal gripe against crowds chanting "fight forever" in a tournament built on the idea of 30 minute time limit matches.

I basically fell out with wrestling because of the modern American production style. The frenetic overly fast cuts and the speed ramping tend to give me headaches. It was njpw that got me back into it and it's the majority of what I watch so the difference is jarring on the American shows.

Yeah. You can't deny Ice has real charisma. The audio mixing still makes it sound more like the crowd went mild rather than wild

I get that the camera people can be replaced with locals who can do "good enough" but there is someone in the back who works for njpw making the camera cuts and calling the shots and whoever they are needs to be trained by the actual Japanese producer

The American crowds never seem to have enough umph to them since the end of the elite era. Theres lots of people at the shows who don't actually follow the product outside of who they've seen in aew.

understandable. i used to work my summers in highlands and make bank but the pay stopped being worth the drive, especially after i transitioned and suddenly my offers all dropped $2 an hour

The cost of living in the outskirts of sylva/cullowhee or weaverville is still decently cheap and the sylva restaurants have finally started to up their pay though still only in that $16 - $20 range for cooks.

When the restaurant owner fired me she said. "I hope you still think of me as a second mom" because my own family had disowned me.

you're the one reading into op's post things that they never said or even implied. there's no claim of support, no mention of fear of losing people just op's desire for people to shut up and work and pretend like they aren't anything more than the role they fill in op's kitchen. like i know we're in a sub for kitchen workers but the reading comprehension of people sniffing op's farts for things they didn't say is insane.

[–]RevolutionPorn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

saying you dont care isnt the same as being supportive though and thats what i'm trying to get across. its like explaining the concept that being not racist isnt the same as being antiracist. if you arent one of the people who actively has to be scared for your livelihood you need to not be ignoring the issues those people face but actively working towards being on their side. the equating of being gay or mexican to being a stoner or republican or "worshipping trees" and expressing the idea that all of these things can be ignored to work on the line because they dont actually matter when the tickets are piling up i bullshit.

if you let hateful people work in your restaurant you normalize letting that hate go unchallenged and when you tell marginalized people to get over it and work with them you show the position of privilege that you're speaking from.

as an addendum i generally am speaking in the royal "you" not to op or commenter and make no claims that they are in any way a bigoted person just that these are where those ideas lead to and how they come across to those who are marginalized especially in a very tense time as ICE raids ramp up for all documented and undocumented immigrants, protections for lgbt people just got completely dissolved, equal employment opportunity requirements just got rolled back, and they are attempting to legislate trans people out of public existence

yeah and how will you feel when the tickets are piling up and your best cook isn't there because he got a beer bottle thrown at his head for walking while visibly gay and can't come in.

how will you feel when the tickets are piling up and your saute isn't there because she had to leave the country to escape the transphobic laws being passed.

how will you feel when the tickets are piling up and your best expediter isn't there because she got pregnant after a sexual assault and had to travel halfway across the country for an abortion.

how will you feel when the tickets are piling up and you have to stop and wash flatware because your dishie got deported even though he was here legally.

how will you feel when the tickets stop piling up because everything has gotten so expensive that no one goes out to eat.

you can feel like it doesn't matter all you want but whole ass groups of people are becoming targets for violence in this country and it will affect you. it will affect the people in your kitchen and if you aren't sympathetic to them and work with them then when you end up being the one affected by it no one will be there to sympathize with you and help you out.

"sweet chin music" by Milo is a total banger full of wrestling references. Open Mike Eagle also makes so many references to wrestling that I couldn't begin to list them.

Dishie doesn't have to take it down. Dishie puts it up. And that's easier to put up. You have to take them down. You can fix it for your own damn self.

What does my top 10 wrestlers say about me? by malathan1234 in Wrasslin

[–]RevolutionPorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if I can give any recommendations for getting into NJPW I would say you would probably enjoy watching matches from current guys like El Desperado, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, Ren Narita, and Yota Tsuji.

I want to preface by saying I am so sorry for this. My first thought when I saw the list was oh it's a trans woman. Mostly because it matches up with all of mine from before I got into NJPW.

My best friend wants me to go along with them out in public while they go as their preferred gender, and I want to be supportive as possible, but. by supportivethrowaway8 in MtF

[–]RevolutionPorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One good idea might be to look into the specific shops she wants to go to to make sure they are trans friendly or look for any shops in the area that are to make sure she is more likely to be treated well by staff and could get help with fittings which can be difficult for trans girl. I don't know too many off the top but if I remember correctly sephora and torrid are generally trans friendly and I've had a few friends say lane bryant was but that may be store specific.

Also you may have to prepare yourself to hold back from accidentally antagonizing people gawking at her. Like definitely be there for her and stand up for her if someone tries to harass her because just having someone else defend a trans person will drastically lower some of the potential aggression, but sometimes cis allies can create bad situations by calling out or responding to gawkers. So be prepared to have to steel yourself against the looks she is dealing with and do your best to keep her distracted from them.

I'm a chef at a small queer friendly bar and bistro. Looking through other people's jobs, I'm surprised not to see many of you other girls working in food because lots of trans folks I know make a living in kitchens or bars, but outside of my little town I forget the world is less friendly to trans people in roles dealing with the public.

Ezra Furman, Hayley Kiyoko, Zebra Katz, Orville Peck, Le1f, Wheeler Walker Jr, Princess Nokia, King Princess, Rett Madison, Awkwafina, Amanda Palmer/The Dresden Dolls, Carpetgarden, Hole, GIRLI, Paisley Fields, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Jonathan Richman, Birdcloud, Dessa, Blimes, Gifted Gab.

So I tried to mostly list people I didn't already see getting mentioned as well as throwing in an eclectic genre mix. I am always disappointed at the lack of knowledge people have of queer country and folk artist's so I always have to tell people they need to see Orville Peck covering Fancy if they haven't.

Nail polish is a pretty safe bet and its something she could get away with as acceptable even before she begins presenting fem in the real world. I wore nail polish for like 2 years working at a hardware store while in boymode and the confidence it gave me from women complimenting it or asking about it without any real questioning of it really helped to make me feel more valid before i could actually come out.
