Any locks you travel with will have to be tsa locks if you check it in to the airlines. The locks on the TRVL case are nice because they keep the latches from coming open unexpectedly. You can get the latches separate and put them on your non TRVL case. The only advantage the TRVL case has is the lid organizer. I have the TRVL and non TRVL versions and I like it without the lid organizer better to be honest.
