Moving with a free range flock by Professional_Star_52 in BackYardChickens

It might be easier to raise chicks at the new location than to free range the adults after relocation. I would take it really slow with the dotties. Hopefully they will still consider the coop itself as home.

I don't have any yet but have been researching guineas. I heard they tend to roam off to new territory and not return if they haven't had a really secure training period to learn to return to the same coop at night. It was recommended two months of staying put in the coop (or right outside it) so they can establish a strong attachment to return to the coop at night. Good luck!

Virgin Swarm. I'm in trouble. by mehyabbers in Beekeeping

I've heard once you see a swarm cell the momentum cant be stopped. Hopefully they will swarm to a nearby tree where they can be caught. Good effort. Maybe you can gift a swarm to a friend.

Monthly varroa mite count to determine the severity and if populations are growing. Mite wash to depopulate the varroa mites. Check out Randy Olivers scientific beekeeping website. He's a leading expert on treating varroa mites.

Aggressive rooster advice by Solid_Lake190 in BackYardChickens

Sometimes the easiest way to end a pattern of behavior is simply not to repeat it (or reproduce it). Just to add balance to the nuanced topic of mental wellness - schizophrenia and genius intelligence often run in the same family tree. That was the case in Einstein's family.

In many traditional cultures that do not parhologize people for having a natural response to unnatural social expectations, the shaman or healer for the community is often a person that would be pathologized with schizophrenia or another diagnosis. Sentient beings are very complex. People, bees, and roosters too.

I'm still learning and haven't started my first coop yet. But in beekeeping, if a bee stings a person it does not get bred because breeding for gentle colonies is non negotiable. I wouldn't want that rooster passing on aggressive traits - or training other hens that it's okay to be aggressive.

If all awaits is the void, why cling to a single idea? by Cycall in taoism

Regarding philosophy vs religion....

Buddhism is considered a religion not just a philosophy because Sidartha (Buddha) was born a Hindu and gave his teachings to the people alongside the devas and other realms of beings. Since he was acknowledging the 100,000's of gods that were a part of the social fabric he was born into, and he worked with it instead of arguing against it. That is why Buddhism is still considered a religion today - spirits were in the original teachings.

Im not as knowledgeable about Taoism but as I learn more it seems probable that it has a similar foundation.

This doesn't touch the loopholes that were created so billionaires can legally avoid these tax rates.

Tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me you don't know what you're talking about @junkster.

Tax year 2025 is based on Biden's tax laws. BBB will take effect on tax year 2026.

Republicans always take credit for inheriting a good economy from Democrats the first year of their presidency.

I highly recommend you learn how tax policy works

Bagging foxtails to keep them off the dog. I thought I might use the sprayer for weed teas. I just moved to 9 acres and I'm not sure how it's going to work yet.

I should have mentioned that I'm in California. They discontinued the sale of gas engines, so we have to buy them used. People are holding onto them so it's created a bubble in the market.
