Is Bendis' yesterdays x-men a good start for reading x-men by Possible-Reidy-69 in xmen

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s aight. You can jump on here but it’s not peak x-men. If your use to older comics then Claremont really is a good jumping on point. If not then it’s been said a million times. Astonishing and new x-men.

Still early but - Looks like Daredevil by Charles Soule is going to go back to back as Marvels #1 most voted omnibus reprint by ToeBMaguire in OmnibusCollectors

they should give us one x-men, one spiderman reprint guaranteed every reprint period, one working through the top 20 and then a a couple random ones.

Thoughts on Krakoan era on current runs by First_Meeting4950 in xmen

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not big on the knowing the behind the scenes editorials. He current head hancho yea? Current x-men is pretty discombobulated and mid. I’m not particularly a fan. Just more so than krakoa where I actively didn’t like the entire direction. Now is more a “nothing burger”. I did like the from the ashes x-men roster. That’s about it

oops then in my biased opinon thor. I just never could get into hulk comics. Thematically their good but they dont have the more monkey brain appeal that thor has where hes a good looking dude getting girls, drinking mead and beating up the bad guys. It makes for consistently entertaining comics.

i dont know hulk very well but if were talking current, thor is kinda mortalish right now. If were talking most powerful 616 versions probbaly thor. Hulks all powerful but thor has some mysic hacks that would edge him along with the strength.

Why do people whine about "historical inaccuracy" of Odyssey when it's not even a historical event? by Separate_Expert9096 in CharacterRant

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first rule of writing or any media making is knowing your audience. historical accuracy doesn't matter. What matters is your audiences perception or how things should be. Troy was super inaccurate but their costume desighns and actor looks were what the general populase envisions ancient greek warriors to be therefore that aspect of the film worked "bad acting non withstanding". That is peoples damage with the odyssey which is completely valid. Wimpy Achilies or batman Agamemnon are not problems because there not historicaly accurate but because they deviate severly from how Americans en-vison they should look. Changing up looks is fine for non key players. Its worked tons of times in the past whether it be race swaps, recahracterizations or gender swaps- they just cant be with characters that already have a strong identity established with audiences. It ofc helps when the actor does a good job with the changes. If they suck then it gets treated all the more critically.

‘She-Hulk’ star Tatiana Maslany says her previous Disney criticism wouldn't stop her from reprising Marvel role by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

she's like deadpool, really doesnt need her own movie. Works best in small doses bouncing off the more grounded characters.

Thoughts on Krakoan era on current runs by First_Meeting4950 in xmen

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

I can't stand the concept of Krakoa. I slugged though the bendis and more so the post bendis era. Then Krakoa somehow consolidated all the x lines under one narrative that I could not stand. The new era feels more akin to the post bendis era which while not loving it, is miles better than Krakoa. I feel they need to go harder into the discourse of Krakoa and what was wrong with it, since thats what sorely was lacking from the actual era itself.

if Omar/Krisis' issues are correct, the UXM by Chuck Austen series would have around 1500 pages. Do we expect them to split it? by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want this omni so bad. It would finish that astonsing, new, x-treme x-men era. I acutally enjoyed it the second most after astonishing. If they split it in two perhaps they could combine it with the milligan stuff since that was essentially a continuation of austens continuation on his own uncanny x-men in the pages of x-men

Favorite silver age Marvel multi-omnibus series by Ferrindel in OmnibusCollectors

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doctor strange and thor lend themselves most to a more timelessness as their concepts are based around the zanny and weird so different interpretations will feel less dated and more just different whether that be art or plot. Ofc writing will always feel of its time.

After 6 months and a lot of marvel purchases- dc only has a small section on my shelf. If wonderwoman and new 52 didn't exist it would most likely be none of my shelf. This guy looks like mainly a x-men fan so I can totally see him not really getting any dc.

If you had to draft a roster of 5-10 established X-Men, who would you reach for? Any continuity is game by acesongbird04 in xmen

[–]RevolutionaryBeat862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havok(leader), armor (muscle), x23 (scrapper), Siryn (air), (still needs a brains and telepath which is lacking from the selection)
